Robert Lewandowski on Harry Kane's pursuit of his scoring record
Former Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski says that Harry Kane's pursuit of his single-season goal record makes him "even prouder" of the achievement.
Lewandowski netted 41 times for Bayern in the 2020/21 campaign, breaking Gerd Müller's 49-year best mark of 40 set in 1971/72.
Kane is currently on 30 Bundesliga goals in 2025/26, and while he missed Bayern's Matchday 25 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach due to a minor calf complaint, he should still have nine league games left to close in on Lewandowski's best mark.

Asked by Sky Sport about Kane's goal tally, Lewandowski was full of praise for his successor at Bayern: "Harry always scores so many goals. He’s playing really well and doing a great job. Thanks to him, I can now be even prouder of my record.”
The Poland forward also pointed out that he missed a number of games in 2020/21 due to a ligament injury, an absence that likely affected his goal total: "I saw that I managed it in 29 matches. If I had played 34 matches, I imagine I might have scored even more.”

Kane himself recently said that he's "in a good position" to raise the bar further in the Bundesliga scoring stakes.
"It would be difficult to beat him,” the 32-year-old added. “I think that chances are pretty even at the moment, whether I manage it or not.”
