Full-time: Bochum 1-3 Wolfsburg

Bochum's search for a first win of the season goes on as they succumb to Wolfsburg. Tiago Tomás and Jonas Wind scored with the visitors' first two shots on target to put them in control at the end of the first half and, while Myron Boadu halved the deficit to give his side hope, Wind netted on the rebound after seeing Patrick Drewes save his penalty to secure the three points. Wolfsburg also hit the woodwork twice in the second period, so the margin of victory could have been even larger.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).

Half-time: Bochum 0-2 Wolfsburg

A fantastic first half for Wolfsburg, who are two to the good. Tiago Tomás scored with his side's first shot on target, hammering home on the turn, before Jonas WInd's acrobatic effort from close range doubled his side's advantage with the second. Ralph Hasenhüttl's side are on top after 45 minutes - there is plenty of work for Bochum to do if they want to get anything from this encounter.

Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz on Bochum

"One of Bochum's great strengths is that they don't let difficult situations throw them off track and solve things together. That's part of the club's DNA. Due to the economic opportunities and general conditions, Bochum almost always start the race as an underdog and has to deal with difficult situations over the course of a season, but you can never write them off.

Zeidler's thoughts on Wolfsburg

"Wolfsburg has played well against the best German teams so far, it was close in each case and then had to give up the points in the end. We have the greatest respect for this team, but we are playing at home. We have a good team, are developing positively and want to continue to improve. The first victory is getting closer and we firmly believe that it will be the case tomorrow. We need a really good performance for that and we are ready for it."

Hasenhüttl's thoughts on Bochum

"Bochum are an unpleasant opponent at home, and we can expect a lot of tackles, as Bochum are a strong pressing team. But we are prepared for this intense fight."

Tale of the tape

Bochum have won 15 Bundesliga matches between the two teams compared to Wolfsburg's 14. Die Unabsteigbaren, though, are particularly strong at home, winning eight of their 13 home matches against Die Wölfe amongst the elite.

Strong starters, poor finishers

Despite having a +3 goal difference in the first-half of matches, Bochum are the only team in the division without a second-half goal to their name. In contrast, they have conceded nine.

Getting ahead, but not staying ahead

Both teams have dropped a huge eight points from leading positions already this term. Bochum were 2-0 up last time out before losing to Borussia Dortmund 4-2, while Wolfsburg were in front in the second half against Bayern Munich on the opening day before losing 3-2.

Good omen?

For the third time in a row, and the fifth time in the Bundesliga history, Bochum are without a win across their opening five league games. The good news? They have avoided relegation on each occasion!
