Full-time: Leipzig 3-0 Augsburg

Leipzig made it three straight wins and set a new club record for goals after four matchdays (13) as they breezed past Augsburg. Lois Openda set up Xavi for the opener inside seven minutes before they reversed roles only moments later for the second. David Raum added a third before the half-hour mark. Augsburg were much improved after the break, with captain Ermedin Demirovic having a golden chance to get at least one goal back, but fluffing his lines from close range as the Bavarians remain without a win this season. Leipzig move third and a point behind the top two of Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich as they extend their unbeaten run in this fixture to 14 games.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).

Demirovic again

The Augsburg skipper tries to make up for that earlier miss with a sweet strike from over 20 yards. It's straight but with a bit of wobble that causes Blaswich to miss his catch, but he can recover to grab the ball at the second attempt.

Now Demirovic!

Golden, huge chance for Augsburg, who had taken every clear-cut chance that had fallen their way previous this season. Vargas beats a man and squares for Demirovic, who is completely unmarked eight yards out with only the goalkeeper to beat, but he puts it straight at the legs of Blaswich. Had to score.

Better from Augsburg

A first attempt of note from the visitors as Tietz meets a cross and Blaswich just about manages to claw it away diving to his right.

Finally a save

Openda is through and looking for a fourth, but Dahmen denies him - the first save he's made today, with Leipzig's first three shots all going in.

Xavi now tops the assist chart with four. Add in another three he's scored himself, and nobody else has been involved in as many Bundesliga goals this season.

Leipzig double up!

Easy as you like for the hosts as the two summer signings reverse roles now. Xavi dead centre with the disguised pass through to Openda, and he makes no mistake up against Dahmen.

Xavi strikes early!

He's shown over the first three matchdays what he can do with his feet, but now Xavi treats us to a diving header, leaping unmarked in the centre of the box to meet Openda's cross.

Gulacsi set to return

Despite the injuries to Olmo and Orban this week, there was some good news from coach Marco Rose on Friday as he announced that goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi will be in the squad to face Augsburg for the first time since his cruciate ligament injury last October. "He's got four weeks of good training with the team behind him. It gives us a good feeling to have our vice-captain back again," Rose stated at his press conference." However, there won't be an immediate return to action: "He still has some steps to take. Janis [Blaswich] has been so reliable and good, and given us so much in recent months, that we don't now need to talk about when Pete is returning, but simply that Janis is in goal."

Augsburg up against it

History suggests Enrico Maaßen's visitors will have their work cut out for them at the Red Bull Arena. Leipzig are unbeaten against Augsburg in 13 competitive games and have never lost against Saturday's visitors at home (six RBL wins and one draw).

Guaranteed goal-fest?

These two sides' combined six games this season have produced an incredible 30 goals ... that's an average of five per match! Augsburg's seven scored in three Matchdays and Leipzig's 10 at this stage of a season are both club records.
