What a turnaround!

Two goals in as many minutes, and wherever you are in the world, what you just felt was not an earthquake - it was the Cologne fans celebrating as Waldschmidt headed in Schmitz's cross and Cologne lead!

The stadium erupts!

Another first goal of the season, and arguably an even better timed one - Tigges nods in from a corner, and Cologne are on level terms!

First assist

After providing his very first Bundesliga assist, Broschinksi leaves the field. It could prove to be a very important assist too, with this result currently taking Bochum out of the automatic relegation berths.

The guests lead!

What a time to score your first goal of the season, and the first since May 2022! The ball comes across the face of goal and lands at the feet of Passlack, whose shot takes a wicked deflection to go in! He won't really care how it went in, but that it went in!

Tight and tense in Cologne

As expected, given the stakes, neither side is giving an inch here.

Schultz on Bochum

"Bochum play a quick game in attack. They have a lot of speed on the wings and are always looking for deep balls to Philipp Hofmann. They are a collective force while also boasting important individual players. It will be a match of equals but we have the chance to take a big step in the right direction [so] of course we want to win.”

Letsch on Cologne

"We are expecting [to face] a team that of course still believes in their chances of survival. Accordingly, we will be looking for ways in which we can get their strengths under control while at the same time play to our strengths. The goal is clear: we are going to Cologne to win the game."

Tale of the tape

Cologne have only lost two of their 31 Bundesliga home games against Bochum while Saturday's hosts have won over half of their games against their visitors overall (33 of 63). However, Bochum are unbeaten in their last four games against the Billy-Goats (three draws, one win).

Long-time waiting

That said, Bochum may point to the fact that opponents Cologne are now winless in seven games as the former come looking what could be a game-changing three points in their season. The Billy-Goats did manage a comeback draw against an Augsburg side the had previously won four in a row last week, however.

Bochum let lead slip

Cologne's coaching staff will certainly have studied Bochum's last outing, a 2-2 draw against basement side Darmstadt. Thomas Letsch's team led that game 2-0 via Philipp Hofmann's double, only to be pegged back by The Lilies. Could there be a few chinks in the Bochum armour for Cologne to exploit based on that encounter?

Game of vital importance

As we enter the season's sprint finish, both of these sides are desperate to save their Bundesliga status. Bochum - in 15th - have the advantage of a six-point gap over Mainz in the relegation play-off spot. Cologne are in deep, however, with Timo Schultz's men second from bottom and a point behind the 05ers.

Previous spoils shared

Cologne were bottom of the Bundesliga pile when they visited Bochum earlier this season but a Davie Selke equaliser lifted the Billy-Goats' morale after Bochum had led through Lukas Daschner's opener.
