Full-time: Bayern 0-1 Bremen

It's all over! Werder Bremen's players drop to their knees in exhaustion, their arms raised in victory. What a performance from Ole Werner's side, who extend their unbeaten run to five games with a huge scalp. Mitchell Weiser's super second-half strike leaves Bayern in a spot of bother in the Bundesliga table, the defending champions seven points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen with a game in hand.

Bayern team news

The reigning champions are relieved that defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano have made it into today's team after the pair complained of respective niggles during the club's recent training camp. Neuer focused

Speaking to Bayern's official website at the team's training camp in Faro this week, Manuel Neuer pointed to the importance of today's game against Werder in the title race: "This is another match we're required to win," the goalkeeper said. "I think it's crucial that we don't let anything slip because we're still second in the table. We have to try and take things as far as possible, starting with three points [against Bremen]."

Tuchel's view on Bremen

"We're expecting a back five from Bremen, like Hoffenheim. We'll prepare for that. It's obviously a classic fixture that had a huge allure when I was a kid. There's always a special energy and lots of goals. Bremen have a special way of playing, always looking to attack. But it's the start of the second half of the season, so there's a lack of video footage and we're focusing on ourselves."
camera-photo

Werner's view on Bayern

"You're aware of the challenge ahead of you when you play in Munich. You've got to be prepared to have less of the possession. Bayern simply have more individual quality and pace than the rest of the league. We have to use the space on the pitch and defend well. We also need Bayern to not be at their absolute best."

Probable line-ups

Who’s set to play this weekend? Who’s going to miss out? Keep up to date with all the latest team news right here!

Bayern team news

Thomas Tuchel, meanwhile, may also have some issues to contend with. Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt needed to sit out training and could therefore be unavailable, and Serge Gnabry is not yet ready to return to the fold as he continues his recovery. Noussair Mazraoui and Kim Minjae are also unavailable - they are representing Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations and South Korea at the Asian Cup respectively.

Bremen team news

Ole Werner will be without several players for this tough task. Ducksch will be joined by Leonardo Bittencourt, who is also suspended, on the sidelines, while Naby Keïta is representing Guinea at the Africa Cup of Nations. Elsewhere, Amos Pieper continues to recover from a broken ankle and will therefore also be absent.

Bremen without Ducksch

Marvin Ducksch has not hit the same heights as Kane, but his contribution to Bremen cannot be underestimated. His seven goals and four assists seem him lead the way for his side in both departments. He will be a big miss in Munich, as he is unavailable due to suspension.

Kane on course for history

To say Harry Kane has settled quickly into Bundesliga life would be something of an understatement. The 30-year-old had already hit the back of the net 26 times in 23 games for the club in all competitions, netting 22 in 16 in the Bundesliga. As such, he has Robert Lewandowski's single-season league record of 41 goals in his sights, and he is on course to beat it by six!

Head-to-head

In recent years, Bayern have very much enjoyed playing against Bremen. Die Werderaner are without a victory in their last 33 games against Der Rekordmeister in all competitions, and have lost a remarkable 26 of the previous 27 meetings. You have to go back to 2008 for Bremen's last triumph, a 5-2 league victory at the Allianz Arena. They will be hoping to end the drought with a memorable win here.
camera-photo

De Ligt and Upamecano injured

While Bayern were able to enjoy the comparatively warm weather, it hasn't been plain sailing. Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt picked up injuries during training, leaving Die Roten light at centre-back. Eric Dier, who was getting to know his new teammates out in Portugal before leaving the camp to attend the birth of his first child, may well be required to jump straight into the side.

Bayern enjoy mini Portugal break

Following their 3-0 victory over Hoffenheim on Matchday 17, Bayern flew to Faro in the Algarve to enjoy a spot of warm-weather training. They will be there until Thursday, with head coach Thomas Tuchel explaining that the trip gives the squad the opportunity to train in more detail.
