Watch: Previous meeting: Hoffenheim 1-0 Augsburg

Dennis Geiger scored the only goal of the game when these sides faced off on Matchday 4 back in August, helping Hoffenheim to a third straight league win. How times have changed...

Cause for optimsm

Hoffenheim have won more games against Augsburg (14) than they have against any other Bundesliga team. Furthermore, Matarazzo has won three of his four meetings with the Bavarian side as head coach.

Positive omen

Augsburg have won each of their last five Friday-night fixtures in the Bundesliga, including two this term against Werder Bremen (Matchday 6) and Bayer Leverkusen (Matchday 19).

Hoffenheim to buck the trend?

New head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo needs to find a way to boost morale among his players following an 11-game winless streak in all competitions. They have only earned two points from the last 30 available in the Bundesliga - the lowest return of all current top-flight sides.
