TIME ADDED ON

We're into the first of three added minutes. Based on the last five, there could well be one final dose of drama...
90'

GIEßEL-THE-MANN!

WHAT. A. CHALLENGE. Silva flicks on Angelino's near-post cross. Brobbey controls and shapes to shoot, but Gießelmann slides in from nowhere to deny a certain goal. What a finale in Berlin!

NO JOY

Brobbey with a strong run, but the Dutchman can't get his shot away. Sums up Leipzig's night.
85'

GULACSI AGAIN!

This one wouldn't have counted for an offside, but it's another brilliant bit of goalkeeping. Gulacsi dives low to his left to turn Ryerson's close-range flick around the post.
84'

WHAT A SAVE!

Leipzig are on the ropes as Ryerson swings a ball towards the penalty spot. Behrens dives to meet it with his head, drawing a sensational reaction save from Gulacsi.
81'

HARAGUCHI!

So close to a third Union goal. Ryerson, who's been superb at right-wing-back, threads a delightful ball into the path of Haraguchi, running from deep. He's into the box, but is at full stretch and has Gulacsi narrowing the angle, and fires wide of the far post.
80'

FRESH LEGS

That's Szoboszlai's last action - he makes way for young Brian Brobbey. Awoniyi and Becker, who have run the socks off, also get the hook. Behrens and Voglsammer are on for the hosts.
77'

LEIPZIG CHANCE!

Szboszlai gets his head to a cross from the left. It's bound for the bottom corner, but Prömel sticks out a boot to direct it to safety.
72'

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES

Jesse Marsch no doubt on the phone to Marco Kurth as Kampl and Simakan enter the fray. Fischer responds by throwing on the industrious Haraguchi for Kruse, who's been a thorn in the side of Leipzig all game long.
66'

LEIPZIG CHANGE

Either side of cautions for Khedira and Szoboszlai, Leipzig make an attacking change. Emil Forsberg is on for Benjamin Henrichs. They need a spark from somewhere - can the Swede deliver?
64'

TAI-NO!

Awoniyi gets his angles all wrong as he attempts to apply the finishing touch to a superb run and cross from Ryerson. Leipzig are rocking...
59'

WIDE FROM SILVA!

Silva controls well on the edge of the Union area, but drags his shot wide. Just three goals in 13 Bundesliga games for the Leipzig summer signing so far this season. He scored a club record and career-best 28 league times for Frankfurt last term.
58'

UNION RETAKE THE LEAD!

Criminal defending from Leipzig as a corner is played towards the edge of the box for the unmarked Kruse. His low strike takes a deflection, completing wrong-footing Gulacsi as Baumgartl turns it in from close range.
57'
Timo Baumgartl
56'

COUNTER THREAT

Leipzig continue to leave themselves exposed to the counter. The pace of Becker is a real problem for the visitors, who are leaving just two defenders back whenever they go forward. He tears away and finds Awoniyi in the box. The shot's not quite on, so he looks for the run of Kruse, but he can't get there in time. Let-off for Leipzig.
51'

TALE OF THE TAPE

Leipzig are dictating the play, albeit without create too much to concern Union, who are set up - as ever - to sit deep and counter-attack.

HALF-TIME: UNION 1-1 LEIPZIG

An entertaining half comes to a close. Union led through Awoniyi and had a great chance to double their lead, before Nkunku levelled with a big helping hand from Luthe.
Half-time
41'

SILVA!

Much better from Leipzig. Henrichs lets a ball run for Laimer on the right-hand side of the Union area. He finds Silva, who heads over. You'd have expected the Portugal international to at least find the target from there!
39'

HEAT-SEEKING PASSES

Leipzig do not know how to deal with Kruse's deliveries. He plays a corner in towards the near post. The clearance is tame, and Prömel is unlucky not to see his follow-up cross find a man in the middle.
34'

ON THE SAME WAVELENGTH

It's Kruse again, telegraphing the run of Awoniyi with a chipped pass into the box. Union's top scorer pulls away fom Mukiele, but can't get a touch on the ball. A relieved Gulacsi bats it clear.

KRUSE CONTROL

Gvardiol doesn't get enough behind his attempted clearance following a corner. Kruse slides a superb pass into the feet of Awoniyi, but he's caught in two minds when the shot was on, and Leipzig snuff out the threat.
22'

KRUSE PULLING THE STRINGS

Kruse asks the question with a teasing in-swinging corner, but Leipzig are well positioned to fend it clear. The visitors can't afford to give too many set-pieces away to Union's creator-in-chief.

CHEST AND BANG

Danger for Union as Nkunku's cross is only half cleared. Szoboszlai controls with his chest on the edge of the area, before sending a dipping volley goalwards that Luthe has to tip over. Leipzig have taken charge.
14'

LEIPZIG EQUALISE!

That miss proves costly as Nkunku curls in a speculative shot from distance. It should be a routine stop for Luthe, but he dives too early and the ball bounces over him and into the net. One for the Christmas bloopers compilation - not that Leipzig are complaining!
12'

WHAT A CHANCE!

Union are away again, with Becker scampering in behind Angelino. The cross is measured to perfection, but missed by Awoniyi in the centre. That throws Kruse, who sidefoots wide.
11'

UNION PACE

Naive defending from Leipzig as they're caught short in the Union half. Awoniyi leads a three-on-one counter-attack, but is dispossessed by Angelino. Should have released the ball sooner!
9'

TAIWO THE TALISMAN

That's Awoniyi's ninth Bundesliga goal of the season. Only Robert Lewandowski (14) and Erling Haaland (10) have scored more than the former Liverpool man.
7'

UNION LEAD!

Dream start for the hosts. Sheraldo Becker plays a corner short to Max Kruse. The Leipzig defence expect a cross, but he instead helps it on to the right foot of Julian Ryerson. He delivers a peach of a ball into the six-yard box, where Timo Baumgartl rises highest to head goalwards, and Taiwo Awoniyi steals a march on his marker to force it home.

WATCH: UNION 2-1 LEIPZIG

Max Kruse scored a stoppage-time winner to seal a 2-1 victory for Union over Leipzig on the final day of last season. The result sealed Union's place in the UEFA Europa Conference League, whilst spoiling Julian Nagelsmann’s final game in charge of Die Roten Bullen.

EURO CHASERS

Union start the weekend in sixth place, but could climb to fourth with a win, at least overnight. They're two points better off than eighth-in-the-table Leipzig, who are enduring their worst ever start to a Bundesliga season - and haven't won away in the league since 10 April.

MORE ON THOSE TEAMS

Union head coach Urs Fischer makes three changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Frankfurt last weekend. Julian Ryerson and Niko Gießelmann are recalled in the wing-back positions, while Sheraldo Becker is preferred to Genki Haraguchi in attack. As for Leipzig, Jesse Marsch is joined in enforced quarantine by assistant coach Achim Beierlorzer. Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi is back in the team, though, with Benjamin Henrichs, Tyler Adams and Dominik Szoboszlai also starting.
