STORY OF THE SEASON

information
xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
This is a game that Fürth will feel they should have won, and few will argue with them, not least in view of the xG statistics. But Frankfurt were ruthlessly effective, and get the win they needed to pull away from the bottom three.

How close Fürth were to only their second point of the season, but it is Frankfurt who snatch three important points with everything happening in a dramatic period of stoppage time.

ANOTHER TWIST!

Rafael Borre breaks the hearts of the Fürth fans, putting Frankfurt back in front at the far post, threading the ball through the eye of a needle from Kostic's cross!

OFF COMES THE ROOF!

After Fein's shot is headed behind for a corner, the ball comes into the centre and Itten, with the coolness of a cucumber, chests the ball over the line from close range! Wherever you are in the world, you probably heard the roar of the Fürth fans!

FRANKFURT'S TRAPP!

Two big chances for Fürth, thwarted by the man at the back for Frankfurt, Kevin Trapp!

SUPER SUB

Rode used his first touches well to tuck the ball in and give Frankfurt the lead.
76'

SUCKER PUNCH!

If you don't put your chances away, this happens! Frankfurt break and Kamada nudges the ball into the path of Rode, and the substitute uses his first few touches to put the Eagles ahead, slotting the ball low past Funk!
75'

ITTEN CHANCE!

That was a big chance for Itten to give the hosts the lead, but he swings at the ball just 8 yards from goal!

TWO CHANGES

Tiring legs leads to Glasner making two substitutions, to try to freshen up his team who have been doing a lot of chasing today.
70'

CLOSE FROM TOURE!

An excellent control with his outstretched leg, imitating the Bundesliga logo in the process, tees Toure up for a volley which, unfortunately for him, is always rising as it goes beyond the far post.

HRGOTA BLOCKED!

The Fürth captain dribbles his way through to the edge of the penalty area, but his shot is blocked! Chances at both ends now!

SOW CLOSE!

Another chance for Frankfurt with Sow this time endangering Funk's goal. Surely a goal is on its way...

LINDSTROM LETS RIP!

That's Frankfurt's first shot of a second half which is warming up nicely! Funk is equal to it and punches the ball away.

DOUBLE CHANCE!

Willems has a shot blocked and the ball falls for Leweling, who sends the rebound into the crowd! Two good chances for the hosts!

TENSE FIRST HALF

It was a very tight opening 45 minutes, perhaps just shaded by the hosts, who had a glorious chance to take the lead right at the death.
Half-time

HRGOTA IN THE SIDE-NETTING!

The best chance of the game so far, but Hrgota hits his shot into the side-netting. He's frustrated with himself, and so he should be as that was a good opportunity!
41'

ITTEN OVERHEAD!

But it also goes over the goal. Itten tries an overhead kick with his back to the goal, but sends the ball high.
39'

END-TO-END STUFF

The pace of the game is rising and the ball is flowing from end to end. Plenty of entertainment for the fans, though they would like to see a goal to go with it.

VAR CONSULTATION

Frankfurt are asking for a penalty, but after consulting with VAR, nothing is given. Relief for the home fans.

HINTEREGGER STRIKE

Kostic is just a decoy as Hinteregger hits it, but the wall is in the way.

ANOTHER GREEN CORNER

The first one caused a lot of danger in the area and this one is dangerous too, but Frankfurt finally clear their lines after a bit of pinball in their area.

BLOODY NOSE FOR HINTEREGGER

The giant Frankfurt defender needs a bit of tissue to plug his nose after a clash with Seguin, but he's only off the field for a few seconds.

GREAT ATMOSPHERE!

FIREWORKS FOR FÜRTH

There are fireworks going off outside the stadium and the atmosphere is sparkling inside too as the teams emerge, the home fans hoping to see their team's first win of the season.

MUST-WIN FOR FÜRTH

With just one point on the board so far this season, the Clover Leaves could really do with a win to boost morale and draw them closer to 17th-placed Bielefeld, currently on eight points. That said, Frankfurt aren't much better off and only have nine points to show for their efforts this term.

HISTORY ON FRANKFURT'S SIDE

The only time these teams have previous met in the Bundesliga was in the 2012/13 season, with a 1-1 draw in Frankfurt followed by a 3-2 win for the Eagles in Fürth. Overall, Eintracht have won seven of the 15 encounters in all competitions, with three wins for the Clover Leaves and five draws.

TEAM NEWS - FÜRTH

Home coach Stefan Leitl has only made two changes to the team that lost 3-1 in Freiburg last week, with Christiansen replacing Viergever, and Meyerhöfer coming in for Asta.

TEAM NEWS - FRANKFURT

The big news - and by big we mean BIG - is that Flip Kostic has been passed fit and ready to start. The Serbian winger was absent from the team's Europa League match against Olympiacos on Thursday with a minor injury, but has recovered in time for this one. The 28-year-old has two Bundesliga goals and four assists to his name this season, making him by far the most dangerous attacking player for the Eagles. He replaces Chandler in the team as one of four changes from Thursday: Hasebe, Barkok and Lammers drop out for Hinteregger, Durm and Lindström.
