Behrens was born in Frankfurt, but it was at the youth academies of Mainz, Darmstadt and ultimately Hoffenheim where the youngster would hone his craft. Incidentally, it was with the latter's reserves team where Behrens had his first taste of senior football, debuting in the Regionalliga as recently as 2024.

Key stats

Scherhant came of age in Berlin’s football scene, playing for Viktoria Berlin, Tennis Borussia and Berliner SC before joining Hertha's academy shortly before his 18th birthday. He soon made up for lost time, contributing 16 goals and eight assists in his first season with the reserves, which earned him a professional contract in June 2022. A full Bundesliga debut against Eintracht Frankfurt would follow that August.

Another group has now come together for the next couple of fixtures against Serbia in Munich and Greece in Thessaloniki, with Finn Dahmen, Nico Schlotterbeck, Philipp Treu, Yannik Engelhardt, Bambasé Conté and Serge Gnabry also staying on from the first squad.

The current group contains nine players yet to be capped at senior level in Noah Atubolu, Dahmen, Jonas Urbig, Finn Jeltsch, Mika Baur, Saïd El Mala, Vitaly Janelt, Felix Keidel and Derry Scherhant.

Conté was born in Saarbrücken to a German mother and Guinean father on 7 July 2003, and until Germany’s UEFA Nations League meeting with Greece, remained eligible for both countries.
