Substitution

Half-time: Bielefeld 1-2 Heidenheim

The away side head into the dressing room with a well-deserved 2-1 lead. Bielefeld were extremely clinical and made the most of their only chance to take the lead through Grodowski. Heidenheim dominated the match but squandered too many chances carelessly. After Zivzivadze's equaliser, Hennrich struck a fine goal just before the half-time whistle to give the away side the lead. Bielefeld will need to show significantly more in the second half.
Half-time

They do score!

The corner is initially headed clear again, but Arminia cannot get it away. Busch plays it to Hennrich on the right side, who cuts inside and shoots just outside the penalty area. The ball finds the bottom-left corner - no chance for Kersken!

What are Heidenheim up to today?

Once again the visitors are a real threat, but they cannot capitalise on their chances! It is Conteh again, who comes at pace down the left flank and plays the ball low into the centre. Just a few metres in front of goal, Vogt is there unmarked but fires wide of the post.
20'

First Booking

Hennrich delays the game by introducing a second ball onto the pitch during an opposition throw-in.
19'

What a save!

The visitors are dangerous again. Conteh plays a low pass into the penalty area to Zivzivadze. With his back to goal, he turns and gets a shot off. Kersken stretches himself out and just manages to claw the ball out of the right corner.
17'

Another chance!

Conteh makes a good run down the left flank and plays a low ball to the far post. However, Vogt arrives a step too late.
15'

Almost an immediate response!

Busch delivers a low cross from the right into the centre. Zivzivadze slides past the ball, but Heule has plenty of space in the penalty area. He is unable to take advantage of it though and shoots too high. That was a big chance!

Bielefeld take the lead!

A corner from Rochelt lands in the six-yard box where Dähne punches it clear. However, the ball deflects off the back of Zivzivadze's head and falls perfectly to Grodowski's feet, who fires a fierce shot into the roof of the net. The Bielfeld man has already scored five this season, with only Nuremberg's Zoma having scored more.

Heidenheim grow stronger

8'

The visitors transition quickly and Dähne plays a long ball. In the end, Zivzivadze feeds Hennrich on the right side at the edge of the penalty area, who sets the ball onto his left foot. The curling shot towards the far post flies just wide.
7'

The defence holds firm

Grodowski delivers a cross from the left to the far post, where Momuluh looks to lay it off into the middle. However, Heidenheim manage to clear the ball away.

Kick-off!

Kick-off is imminent

The teams are taking to the pitch.

First start

Heidenheim summer signing Hennrich has been brought on as a substitute in four competitive matches so far. Now, he gets to start from the beginning. Today's clash is also set to be a special one for Conteh. The pacey winger is fit enough to start a game again after a few brief cameos.

Bielefeld team news

Compared to the side that lost against Darmstadt last time out, Mehlem and Sicker start on the bench. Min and Handwerker are drafted into the Bielefeld starting line-up in their place.

Heidenheim team news

Head coach Schmidt has rotated heavily in the attacking positions following the 1-0 win against Kiel. Conteh, Hennrich and Zivzivadze come into the starting line-up. Honsak and Mhamdi both drop to the bench, while Costly is absent from the matchday squad today.

Oliver Kirch on facing Heidenheim

"Heidenheim had a bit of a rough patch at the start, with the match against Hertha and the cup exit, but after their comeback victory against Dresden, they seem to have turned a corner."

Frank Schmidt on facing Arminia

"It's never easy here in Bielefeld. We already know that we'll be facing an opponent who desperately wants to pick up three points, especially ahead of this long international break. We need a very good performance. We have to be very solid, like we were in the last two matches, but particularly in defence if we're to take something away from there as well."

Homecoming

Heidenheim captain Patrick Mainka came through the academy in Bielefeld but only made three competitive appearances for the first team, including his Bundesliga 2 debut as a 19-year-old at the end of 2013.

Can Bielefeld improve their record?

Across a total of 16 competitive matches between the two sides, Arminia have won only three times compared to six victories for Heidenheim. The 12 Bundesliga 2 encounters have seen seven draws (two wins for Bielefeld, three wins for Heidenheim).

A fond memory for Arminia

Bielefeld's last win over Heidenheim came on 28 June 2020. They got to celebrate their 3-0 victory on the final day of the season by receiving the Bundesliga 2 trophy as division champions. Heidenheim, though, still finished third and got a chance at promotion via the play-off, only to miss out on away goals to Werder Bremen.
2:01

Watch: Arminia Bielefeld 0-1 Heidenheim - previous meeting

Stefan Schimmer scored the only goal of the game in the second half as Heidenheim continued their promotion push in 2022/23. Bielefeld ended up going down to the 3. Liga via the play-off.
2:14

Watch: Darmstadt 2-1 Arminia Bielefeld - last time out

An 86th-minute penalty cost Bielefeld a result in Darmstadt and leaves them on only four points after five games.
2:13

Watch: Heidenheim 1-0 Holstein Kiel - last time out

Jonas Föhrenbach's late header from a corner gave Heidenheim the edge over Kiel and took Frank Schmidt's men up to third in the table with their fourth win from five.
