New to Heidenheim's starting XI are Mikkel Kaufmann and Luca Kerber, both of whom have only had brief appearances this season so far. Kaufmann picked up an assist as a substitute in Berlin and scored once in the DFB Cup. The Dane last started in January; Kerber in March.
Heidenheim's new left back
Michael Heule, signed at the beginning of the week, makes his debut. Heule won the Swiss title with Thun last season and has already made six competitive appearances in 2026/27 - the most recent of which was a 7-0 defeat in Europa League qualifying against Lech Poznan. His inclusion could see Jonas Föhrenbach move infield.
