That must be the equaliser!

The newly substituted Rössing-Lelesiit suddenly finds himself completely unmarked in front of Noll and should really just have to tap the ball in from point-blank range. However, the ball bobbles a bit too much, causing the Norwegian to miss the target. Unbelievable!
83'

Seven minutes to go

If the score remains the same, the championship trophy will go to Cologne. Polzin obviously want to change that - during the recent stoppage, he gathered his team together in an attempt to inspire them.

Asta down

A substitution is on the cards for Fürth, as Asta apparently cannot continue.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
Five goals have already been celebrated in total, which is more than expected, as the xGoals values show.

Hamburg are running out of time

Cologne now lead 3-0, so the situation remains unchanged - HSV must win to secure the title.

Selke hits the crossbar!

Reis plays the ball the substitute, who shoots immediately and makes the crossbar rattle with his curling effort.

Hit on the head

The next free-kick for HSV, and Dompé steps up again. This time, however, his attempt hits Jung directly on the head, who briefly sinks to the ground.

Double digits

That was Glatzel's tenth goal of the season. In his fifth consecutive second division campaign, the 31-year-old striker has now reached double figures (four times for HSV, once for Heidenheim).

Triple substitution HSV

Polzin goes all out - what else can he do? As Cologne still lead 2-0, HSV must win to get their hands on the title. Sahiti, Richter and Selke are tasked with making it happen in the remaining 20 minutes.

Half-time: Greuther Fürth 1-0 Hamburg

HSV were the better team for most of the half, but were unlucky in front of goal. Fürth initially struggled, but defended attentively and took the lead shortly before half-time through Klaus. Currently, HSV's title celebration is in jeopardy with Cologne leading 2-0 against Kaiserslautern, also at half-time.

Hamburg are finding their way into the match minute by minute. Dompé performs a few stepovers then chips the ball to the other end of the box to the lurking Baldé, who tests Noll with a low effort.
19'

Good free-kick position

Karabec blasts the resulting free-kick directly into the Fürth wall.
17'

First booking

John takes out Baldé with a sliding tackle on the edge of the penalty area.
16'

Close call!

Following a free-kick, Mikelbrencis gets a shot off from the edge of the box. His first-time effort takes a slight deflection and bobbles just past the left post. Keeper Noll would have been powerless to stop it.
15'

News from Cologne

It's not good for HSV - Cologne are leading against Kaiserslautern and thus climb into top spot for now.
12'

Too unselfish!

Fürth manage to create some space for the first time, which Hrgota exploits well with a clever pass to the unmarked Asta. However, he wants to play the ball back into the centre when a shot would probably have been the better option, albeit from a tight angle. There was more in that for the Cloverleaves!
11'

Beautiful through ball!

Glatzel is played in down the left. The low pass into the middle also looks promising, but Reis' first touch is not good - the ball bounces off his foot and trickles away harmlessly.
9'

Heating up

Glatzel rams into John from behind, and referee Schröder awards a free-kick. However, it is wasted.
7'

First attempt on goal

The ball bounces off Glatzel's back somewhat fortunately into the feet of Karabec, who turns and shoots with his left foot from the edge of the penalty area. Quarshie intervenes and blocks the ball.

4'

Glatzel back in the starting line-up

For the first time since Matchday 8, the HSV striker is back in the first XI. In October, he suffered a tendon rupture and was subsequently out for months. Since returning in March, he has been used as a substitute eight times.

Starting opportunity for Jung

The former Hamburg player is in the starting line-up for the first time since Matchday 19 (a 4-2 home defeat against Kaiserslautern).

Fitting welcome

The newly promoted team's coach is greeted by fans.

Selke only on the bench

HSV coach Merlin Polzin makes four changes from the 6-1 home victory against Ulm - Schonlau, Karabec, Baldé and Glatzel play in place of Königsdörffer (not in the squad), Poręba, Sahiti and Selke (all on the bench).

Three changes for the Cloverleaves

Manager Thomas Kleine makes three changes to his starting line-up from the 1-1 draw in Hannover - Asta, Consbruch and Jung come in for Green, Münz and Kasper (all on the bench).

Hamburg's starting XI

Fernandes - Mikelbrencis, Schonlau, Elfadli, Muheim - Meffert - Karabec, Reis - Baldé, Glatzel, Dompé

Furth's starting XI

Noll - Quarshie, Dietz, Itter - Klaus, Jung, Asta, John - Consbruch, Futkeu - Hrgota

Kleine's statement

"We will go into this game against Hamburg and we want to win it. We need to cover a lot of ground, be prepared to push ourselves to the limit, and work together as a team, which is what we did in Hannover as well."

The Referee Team

Referee: Robert Schröder, Assistant Referee 1: René Rohde, Assistant Referee 2: Stefan Zielsdorf, Fourth Official: Richard Hempel, VAR: Pascal Müller, VAR Assistant: Mitja Stegemann

Potential Championship Ceremony

Should current league leaders Hamburg secure the title, DFL managing director Steffen Merkel will present the Bundesliga 2 trophy on Monday, 19 May, in Hamburg. This would be a first Bundesliga 2 trophy for Hamburg.

Merlin Polzin's thoughts

"No one needs to motivate us for Sunday's match. We are still competitors and we want to win the league. Even though our main goal has already been achieved, we still want to have a photo with the championship trophy at the end."

Watch: Selke fires HSV to promotion

Relive Davie Selke's goals which have helped lift HSV back to the top flight after seven seasons spent in the Bundesliga 2.

Reunion with his former club

In HSV's last Bundesliga match seven years ago - a 2-1 victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach - Gideon Jung played the full 90 minutes for the Red Shorts. He made 78 appearances in the top flight and 55 in the second tier for Hamburg. In the summer of 2021, Jung then made the switch from HSV to Fürth.

Brace and a debut goal

In meeting earlier in the season, Hamburg were already leading by three goals after just 11 minutes had gone with the match ending. Davie Selke scored twice for HSV, while the then 17-year-old Otto Stange netted his first professional goal.

Positive record

HSV have lost only one of their last 16 competitive matches against Fürth, with eight wins and seven draws. In the 2014 relegation play-offs too, the Red Shorts prevailed on the away goals rule, having played out a 0-0 draw at home and a 1-1 draw away.
