Full-time: Magdeburg 4-1 Darmstadt
Incredibly, the visitors could have been two goals up at half-time yet a much more ambitious Magdeburg ran the show after the break and gained their reward with four second-half goals in 25 minutes to stun Darmstadt and move third in the standings.

Nearly 5-1
Kaars lays the ball off beautifully with his heel to Krempicki, who shoots narrowly wide of the far post from a half-right position at the edge of the penalty area.

Darmstadt make triple change
Will Florian Kohfeldt's substitutions have any effect? Damage limitation is likely all that's left for the Lilies.

FCM won't let this slip
It would take a miracle for the hosts not to win from here. After the break, it looked completely different. At that point, when they were trailing, they had only a ten percent chance of victory. What a difference a few good substitutions can make...

Deserved lead
The 2-1 is completely justified. Since the equaliser, FCM has been applying pressure and pushing Darmstadt further back. They are now also executing their counter-attacks better than before.

Magdeburg hit the front
Once again, it's a quick counter-attack down the left flank. Nollenberger plays the ball back from the byline into the space behind. Burcu is perfectly positioned there and taps the ball over the line from close range.

The pressure is on
The situation remains unchanged: The Lilies must continue to rely on their goalkeeper. He has just saved another long-range shot from Nollenberger.
66'
That was close
Nollenberger is played through by Gnaka on the left side of the penalty area. He cuts inside and takes a shot, but his effort only hits the side netting.
64'
Crucial phase for Darmstadt
The visitors must now withstand the pressure. Driven on by the fans, the home side are turning up the heat. However, with the substituted Kempe, the Lilies are now drawing several fouls, which buys them time.

Equaliser for Magdeburg
In a counter-attack, Burcu holds off several opponents, cuts inside from the left, and from a central position plays in Ameachi who had made a supporting run. The striker has little trouble slotting the ball into the net unmarked.

Another chance for Darmstadt
The visitors play another counter-attack down the left flank. Corredor finds Hornby in the middle once again, but under pressure, he fails to make proper contact with the ball. Goal kick for FCM.

Magdeburg need wing play
Ameachi is clearly the danger man for FCM. The right winger repeatedly manages to hold his own against several Darmstadt players when he cuts inside. The hosts need to keep getting him involved in the game.

Half-time: Magdeburg 0-1 Darmstadt
A final corner yields nothing for Magdeburg, who go into the dressing room trailing. For Darmstadt, who are defending with great commitment, the lead is certainly deserved.

Cleared in the nick of time
Once again, it's a long ball from Boëtius behind the Magdeburg defensive line. Mathisen clears the high ball at the last second on the edge of the penalty area. Otherwise, Hornby would have been clean through.

Players making their mark
Hornby and Boëtius have been the key players for SVD so far. In the transition, they are consistently securing the ball and dribbling past Magdeburg players.

How will Magdeburg respond?
Manager Titz reorganises his men. Instead of the previous back three, now only two centre-backs are to take charge. Perhaps this way, the hosts will manage to put more pressure on their opponents.

Goal for Darmstadt
A textbook counter-attack. After a free-kick from Magdeburg, Schuhen quickly throws the ball out. Boëtius is not challenged on the right and lofts the ball into the penalty area. Hornby holds his ground and knocks the ball over the line from close range.

Signs of life from the Lilies
Darmstadt are beginning to show up up front once again. After a free kick from a central position, Hornby gets his head to the ball. However, the striker can't put enough power behind it.

Just centimetres away
El Hankouri drives the ball forward on the right-hand side and looks for the incoming Kaars with his pass. However, the pass was played too hard for the striker to get his foot behind it.

Double corner for Magdeburg
FCM manage to establish themselves deep in Darmstadt's half and force two corner kicks from the right. However, both short-played variations fail to yield any results.

Darmstadt slow the pace
The directness of the first few minutes is no longer as evident. SVD take their time with throw-ins and set-pieces, aiming to disrupt the home side's rhythm.

The visitors' transition play has been impressive so far. Hornby repeatedly drifts to the right wing to receive long balls. From his lay-off, a long-range shot followed shortly after, which posed no problem for Reimann.

Lively opening phase
If the match continues as it has in the first few minutes, it won't remain 0-0 for long. Both teams are looking to push forward and are repeatedly creating good chances.

Florian Kohfeldt on facing Magdeburg
"Magdeburg has a very exciting, attractive and - in a positive sense - extreme playing style. They are a team that passes the ball a lot and makes the game very wide. At the same time, they are brave and play out from the back. Against the ball, they press one-on-one across the entire pitch. This can lead to spectacular matches."
Familiar face
The last time these two met in Magdeburg, in October 2022, today's home defender Patric Pfeiffer scored the winning goal for Darmstadt. Pfeiffer spent four years with the visitors (80 appearances in Bundesliga 2) and as a regular starter in 2022/23 - he played a significant role in their promotion to the Bundesliga, also contributing four goals.
Enjoyable away trips
Darmstadt have won all four of their away matches in Magdeburg. Three of these victories ended 1-0.
