So there will be no hat-trick after all for Hack, who has played a leading role for Gladbach today, as he's replaced by Čvančara. Scally, who's been on the receiving end of a couple of heavy tackles, also goes off, with Lainer coming on.

Gladbach attack down the right and the ball is played into the middle for Sander, who flicks it on to Hack. He shoots first time and buries it into the net but it's chalked off following a VAR review for offside.

Hack plays a one-two with Netz wide on the left, cuts inside and curls a delightful, low shot into the far corner. It's hard to see a way back into this for Heidenheim now.

A cross from the left arrives at the feet of Ngoumou, although he is forced a bit wider than he'd like. He does well to get a shot on goal but it's cleared off the line!

Heidenheim struggle to clear a Gladbach free-kick from the right and eventually the ball comes to Pléa, hovering on the edge of the box. He shoots but drags it wide of the post.

Heidenheim lose possession as they try to play out from the back. Kleindienst slips a pass through to Hack on the right, but the angle is very tight and his shot towards the near post is comfortably gathered by Müller.

The Gladbach midfielder pounces on a loose ball in the middle of the pitch. He's got space to stride forward and line up a shot at goal but he slices it narrowly wide from 25 yards out.

Ngoumou doubles Gladbach's lead - and does so in fine style. Driving inside off the right wing, he sprints past a couple of defenders, plays a one-two with Pléa and then casually side-foots a shot into the net off the underside of the crossbar.

It's Hack again, this time charging into the box on the left but his touch is too heavy and Müller comes out to block for a corner.

Kleindienst wins possession in midfield, with the ball ricocheting to back to Weigl, who plays a sublime first-time pass forward that dissects the home defence and releases Hack through on goal. He makes no mistake in the one-on-one with goalkeeper Müller, coolly slotting in the opening goal.

Ngoumou very nearly gets on the end of a teasing cross into the box. Any kind of contact would have likely been a goal but he just couldn't get there!
