Karius comeback
Karius's last appearance in Germany was exactly four years ago to the day! He was between the sticks for the Bundesliga clash between Union Berlin and Hoffenheim, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Karaman still sidelined
Schalke's top scorer remains unavailable due to illness. Mohr, Schallenberg and Sylla are also among the absentees.
Münster shuffle pack
Kirkeskov and Mees, who were suspended for the victory against Regensburg, return in place of Frenkert and Amenyido. Paetow, who was also forced to watch from the sidelines last time due to his fifth booking, starts on the bench.

As expected, Karius replaces Heekeren between the posts. Messrs Bulut, Kalas and Antwi-Adjei also come in. Gantenbein and Ba drop to the bench, while Schallenberg is out through injury.

"Schalke are a very good team at home, capable of creating a lot of pressure and certainly carried by their fans at times. However, they also have moments when they are vulnerable. When we get our chances, it's up to us to take advantage of them."
Kees van Wonderen's view on Münster
"Münster's strengths are well known. They engage in many challenges and win a lot of aerial duels. They have already achieved good results away from home. The most important thing is that we focus on ourselves and show our best performance."
A long wait for three points
Münster last won against Schalke in the 1989/90 season, winning both encounters that term. The two teams have only once shared a top-flight season, in 1963/64, with Münster winning 2-1 in Gelsenkirchen on that occasion.
25 Years Ago
In September 1990, Schalke won their last home match against Münster 3-1. At that time, the managers were Peter Neururer and Gerd Roggensack. Jens Lehmann was in goal for Schalke, with goals scored by Egon Flad, Peter Sendscheid and Alexander Borodjuk - Ralf Haub scored for the visitors.
How times change
Just over two years ago, Münster were still playing in the Regionalliga and faced Schalke II at the Parkstadion. Justin Heekeren was in goal for Schalke on that day as Preußen won 3-1. Now, for the first time in almost 35 years, the Eagles are facing Schalke's first team.
