Full-time: Braunschweig 2-2 Düsseldorf
Wow, that was an intense match. Based on the goal-scoring opportunities, the hosts could have certainly won, but all things considered, the result is fair. Both teams gave it their all in the second half. However, the draw doesn't really help either Braunschweig or Düsseldorf in their end-of-season aspirations.

It's back and forth
Niemiec has an opportunity on the counter and crosses from the edge of the penalty area. However, Bell Bell just manages to slide in and clear the ball away.

Kastenmeier saves!
That was close! A cross from the right meets Szabó's head. The attempt flies towards Kastenmeier, who raises his arms and tips the ball over the crossbar, denying Fortuna a late winner!

Jóhannesson with the chance
Gavory tries a cross from the left, which Eintracht manage to clear. The Düsseldorf player collects the rebound at the edge of the penalty area, but his attempt is blocked.

Philippe! Just centimetres away!
It's always the same pattern: A striker makes an angled run from the middle towards one of the wings and receives the ball in stride. Philippe gets away from Siebert and shoots from the corner of the six-yard box, but narrowly misses the target.

Braunschweig keeping the tempo high
The hosts are not satisfied with the draw. They push the ball forward. Rittmüller crosses from the right to the far post. Gómez, who has moved up, rises highest but heads over the woodwork.

Yellow card for diving
Niemiec goes down in the right side of the penalty area without any contact from an opponent. Particularly bitter - it's his fifth yellow card.

Fresh legs for the hosts
Tachie has worn himself out up front and is now being replaced by Szabó. The striker should now hold up more balls in attack.

No foul, but there was contact. Düsseldorf combine well down the right into the box. The hosts are looking a bit shaky.

Equaliser again!
Out of nowhere, the visitors score to make it 2-2! Niemiec lays off a long ball to the advanced Zimmermann. With a sliding tackle, he lifts the ball over Hoffmann into the right corner.

A hair's breadth away from 3-1
Long ball from Rittmüller to Tachie, who looks for a way down the right to the byline. In the penalty area, he squares it to Philippe. His finish from just a few metres is saved by Kastenmeier with a clean block.

Bičakčić down on the ground
In midfield, there's a challenge between the veteran and Düsseldorf's Appelkamp. "Iron-Ermin" requires treatment and limps off the pitch to get it.

Siebert risks life and limb
Same pattern as for the past hour: Braunschweig play a long ball to one of their two strikers. Tachie chases after it and is just about stopped by the Fortuna defender at the right edge of the penalty area. All fair play, but it could have gone wrong if the timing hadn't been right.

Kastenmeier saves!
Once again it's a long ball behind the Fortuna defence that creates danger. Philippe collects it, beats Siebert in the penalty area and shoots with his left foot. But the visiting goalkeeper manages to save the shot that had been destined for the left corner.
56'
Bell Bell not well well
That could have gone wrong: the left-back wins the ball fairly against Appelkamp in the penalty area. But then complacency creeps in and he loses possession on his way forward. Luckily, a Fortuna player was offside after winning the ball.

Braunschweig take the lead!
What's going on here?! Tachie cleverly lets Bell Bell's pass run through. As Oberdorf has to push up, Philippe suddenly has plenty of space. The striker takes one touch and fires a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner, beyond Kastenmeier's reach.

How will the hosts respond?
A cold shower for Braunschweig, who have to recover from that early shock. However, they're not sitting back and defending. Instead, they continue to press high up the pitch. No sign of uncertainty.

Goal! Equaliser!
What a start to the second half! A beautiful goal! van Brederode draws several opponents to himself in the left half-space, then plays it to the middle to Appelkamp, who lays it directly into the path of Gavory. The advanced left-back smashes the ball ruthlessly into the bottom left corner.

Half-time: Braunschweig 1-0 Düsseldorf
Even though Jóhannesson had a shot from outside the box just before the half-time whistle, Braunschweig take a deserved lead into the break. They have been hitting fast on the counter through Tachie & Co. and have allowed little through at the back so far. When Fortuna do break through, however, they are finding Hoffmann in extremely vigilant form.

Siebert powers through
The centre-back must be getting bored at the back. With long strides, he dribbles all the way into Eintracht's penalty area. However, his cross from the byline doesn't find a teammate.

Düsseldorf pushing
With the break looming, the visitors are pressing for the equaliser. Braunschweig are sitting much deeper, which has created space for counter-attacks. One such counter through Tempelmann ends with Siebert just outside the penalty area.
40'
Philippe! There was more in it
Not a bad counter-attacking moment for the hosts. Tachie wins the ball against Jóhannesson in the centre and dribbles towards the defensive line. His pass to Philippe comes a bit too late, causing the striker to be stopped at the edge of the penalty area.
38'
Kownacki again
The Fortuna striker seems to have got a taste for it now. He attempts a volley from a cross from the right wing but doesn't connect cleanly. Easy save for Hoffmann.
36'
Big chance for Fortuna!
Van Brederode gets past his opponent on the left wing and Jóhannesson crosses to the far post. There, Kownacki tries to wrong-foot Hoffmannwith his shot. The Braunschweig keeper somehow gets his knee to it and deflects for a corner - which comes to nothing.
33'
No pace
Düsseldorf win the ball at the halfway line and play it back to Siebert. But instead of playing the long pass to Kownacki, he turns away and takes the momentum out of the attack. This allows Braunschweig to easily get back into their defensive shape.

Untidy
Fortuna are only rarely making it past the halfway line, let alone to the Eintracht penalty area. Many passes are not clean enough: just now, Gavory had to scramble to save a seemingly harmless ball before it went out for a throw-in.

First for Jaeckel
That was his first goal in 21 appearances for Eintracht. There could hardly be a better time for it.

Goooooal for Eintracht!
Köhler chips a free-kick from the right wing into the middle. From about six metres out, Jaeckel jumps from a standing position and heads the ball home. Kastenmeier can only watch it go in.

...Düsseldorf are gaining control. The visitors are now passing the ball through their own ranks, but still without making significant territorial gains towards the Braunschweig goal.

Daniel Thioune's thoughts on facing Braunschweig
"We measure Eintracht by the form they are currently in. They haven't lost in their last five matches and have won three of them. It's obvious that they have gained a certain stability in the second half of the season."
Daniel Scherning's thoughts on facing Düsseldorf
"Düsseldorf are a top-class team in this league, and they're competing for promotion once again. They are a team that play very patiently and can endure a lot. But at the right moment, they also have the quality to strike again and again. Against such top teams, you always need a bit of luck."
Lion tamer
Daniel Thioune has won seven and drawn one in eight competitive matches against Braunschweig (with Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Osnabrück). He hasn't won more against any other club. Moritz Heyer's record is slightly better, having won all eight of his competitive matches against Braunschweig (six with Hamburg, two with Halle).
It's been a while...
Braunschweig last won against Düsseldorf in the 2016/17 season (2-1 both at home and away) - at the end of that season, Eintracht missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga as the third-placed team after losing in the relegation play-off against Wolfsburg.
Last time it was decisive
In the first leg, Fortuna were 3-0 up after eleven minutes and celebrated their biggest win of the season with a 5-0 victory (Braunschweig never lost by a bigger margin in 2024/25).
Fortuna dominant vs. Eintracht
Düsseldorf has won the last four matches against Braunschweig (with a combined score of 14-2 goals!) and has been unbeaten against Eintracht for nine matches (five wins, four draws).
