New date set

The DFL has now confirmed the new date and kick-off time for the Matchday 16 fixture between Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim, after it was postponed due to wintry conditions on Saturday. The game will now be played on Tuesday, 27 January, kicking off at 8.30pm CET.

The Bundesliga Matchday 16 fixture between Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim has been postponed due to unsafe wintery conditions around the Weserstadion. The DFL will announce a new date for the fixture to be played in due course.

Albian Hajdari is suspended for this clash, meaning he joins Touré in being unable to feature here, while Koki Machida is still continuing his long-term recovery from a knee issue that has kept him out for the campaign. Adam Hložek is also unavailable after picking up a calf injury.

Bazoumana Touré was on the scoresheet in his nation's 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso as they reached the quarter-finals. He is therefore unavailable here.

Early Bremen team news

Bremen will be without Mitchell Weiser, Victor Boniface and Felix Agu for this clash. Maximilian Wöber is also ruled out with a thigh problem, while goalkeeper Mio Backhaus is a minor doubt with an eye issue.

Hoffenheim have won four of the past five meetings between these two teams, although they did win a memorable encounter 4-3 last term, coming back from 3-0 down after 12 minutes to win 4-3. Seven of the last eight meetings have also seen both teams score, so expect goals in this one!

Campbell joins Hoffenheim

Highly-rated Borussia Dortmund youngster Cole Campbell will spend the rest of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Hoffenheim. He has managed just one Bundesliga appearance so far this term, but has been regularly named on the bench for BVB.

Werder Bremen handed double boost

Bremen warmed up for their opening Bundesliga fixture of 2026 by holding St. Pauli to a 0-0 draw at the Millerntor, with Maximillian Wöber and Olivier Deman making their long-awaited injury comebacks.

Hoffenheim hunting top four

The visitors have lost just once in their last nine games, a 2-0 defeat against Dortmund. In that time, they've conceded the fewest goals in the league (8), and currently sit only two points behind fourth-placed Leipzig.
