Augsburg have been the definition of clinical this half. A spectacular block from Matsima prevents a promising Dinkçi shot from reaching his keeper. Freiburg have a corner, but Augsburg get it away before Wolf's high-pressing is rewarded as he charges down the ball and wins it off the last Freiburg defender. He runs from inside his own half before calmly slotting it past Atubolu into the bottom left corner for his side's third of the afternoon.

Both sides advanced through to the second round of the DFB Cup last weekend with 2-0 wins. Eren Dinkçi and Lucas Höler netted for Freiburg at Sportfreunde Lotte, while Steve Mounié and Samuel Essende did the business for Augsburg in Halle.

Freiburg's first game fever
The Breisgau club have won the opening game of the past three Bundesliga campaigns, building a very welcome habit of collecting three points on Matchday 1 which they'll hope to continue in 2025/26.
Previous meetings
The home side have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games against their opponents. The most recent encounter between the two was a 0-0 draw at the WWK Arena on Matchday 24 of last season.
