Huge chance!
Irvine flicks on a long throw to Dźwigała, but the Pauli sub is leaning back and scoops over from eight yards.

Added time
Five additional minutes as Guirassy flicks away a dangerous free-kick from Smith.
86'
Saved!
Vasilj gets down at his near post to block Brandt's well-struck effort after a great bit of combination play with Ryerson.
83'
Guirassy to the rescue!
Dortmund don't take long to restore their lead. Gittens does really well on the left-hand side, before picking out Guirassy for a powerful downward header. Great goal - his seventh in all competitions in a BVB shirt.

It stands!
And Pauli are level, thanks to Smith's stunner. Be sure to catch our match highlights because that was special!

Sizzler!
Wowser! Smith has just thundered in an unstoppable 20-yard strike, but this one will be checked for a possible infringement on Kobel in the BVB goal...

Maxi power
Malen makes way for Beier in the Dortmund attack. The Germany forward, who turned 22 yesterday, is yet to score since switching to BVB from Hoffenheim over the summer.

Felix Nmecha, with two goals in his last three games, replaces Emre Can for BVB. Pauli's Blessin hooks Morgan Guilavogui for Scott Banks, with his side second best since the restart.

Guirassy from close range, but Vasilj gets down to it and blocks with his outstretched leg. Gittens keeps it alive, but Malen can't get to the BVB sub's back-post pass.

False start
There's another stoppage due to some pyrotechnics at the away end. Dortmund have replaced string-puller Pascal Groß with Golden Boy nominee Jamie Gittens, presumably because of an injury problem.

Free header!
Almost a second BVB goal as the unmarked Brandt meets Anton's inch-perfect cross, only to put his close-range header over.

There it is!
Dortmund lead! It's a superb in-swinging cross from Groß, and a brilliant towering header into the far corner by Bensebaini. He was on target for Algeria earlier in the week, too!
38'
Half chance
Saliakas inadvertently flicks on a Groß corner for Bensebaini, but he can't adjust his body enough to trouble Vasilj in the Pauli goal.

Disallowed goal!
VAR spares Dortmund as Guilavogui has a goal ruled out. The Pauli forward was a fraction offside as he stretched to toe in a brilliant free-kick delivery from Smith.

Safe hands
Kobel does well to hold onto a daisy-cutter from Eric Smith. That one really kicked up in front of the keeper!
26'
Dangerous!
A Pauli corner's played deep to Guilavogui, who directs an awkward header into the six-yard box. Eggestein is unmarked, but has his back to goal and can't get enough on it to trouble Kobel.
24'
Deflected!
Pascal Groß collects an inside pass from Brandt and leathers the ball goalwards from range. It hits a white shirt and spins just wide of the goal frame, with Vasilj rooted to the spot.
22'
Not this time
Brandt shows quick feet in midfield, before freeing Ryerson on the edge of the Pauli area. He cuts onto his left foot, but his low strike is straight at the goalkeeper.

Heroic block!
Pauli go straight up the other end with Guilavogui, who plays Afolayan in on the Dortmund goal. He takes a little too long, though, allowing Bensebaini to get back and make a brilliant sliding challenge.
16'
Denied!
Anton's teasing cross causes all sorts of problems in the Pauli box. Guirassy can't get a shot off, but Malen is quick to the loose ball. He wriggles clear, before seeing his goal-bound effort blocked in front of the goal-line. Vasilj was unsighted.

Right idea
Dortmund find joy on the right-hand side with Ryerson, but his chipped cross is well held by Vasilj. BVB look very comfortable...

Chance!
BVB move it really well as Brandt plays a pass into the box for Guirassy. He gets in ahead of Smith, the big striker using the outside of his boot to force a strong save from Vasilj.

And we're off!
Dortmund's famous abode is packed to the rafters as visiting Pauli get the ball rolling.

YNWA
The Dortmund and Pauli fans are belting out 'You'll Never Walk Alone', as is tradition before games in these parts. Stirring stuff. Great to see the away supporters joining in, too.
Dortmund bouncing
The teams are warming up in Dortmund, with the atmosphere around Signal Iduna Park building nicely.
Table talk
Dortmund could go third, overnight at least, with three points tonight. Pauli could drop to the foot of the table or climb a place to 14th, depending on how things shake out over the weekend.
More on those news
Şahin makes three changes to the team beaten 2-1 by Union prior to the international break. With Yan Couto injured, Ramy Bensebaini comes into the defence, while Marcel Sabitzer and Donyell Malen are preferred to Jamie Gittens and Max Beier in attack. As for Pauli, Elias Saad makes way for Guinean forward Morgan Guilavogui in the only change to the 3-0 loss to Mainz.

100 up for Brandt?
Julian Brandt has collected 99 Bundesliga wins as a Borussia Dortmund player. One more would draw him level with Eike Immel on the club's all-time list of most victories.

Previous meeting
The last time these two sides met was in the DFB Cup Round of 16 in the 2021/22 season, when St. Pauli won 2-1 at home to a star-studded side containing Erling Haaland, Marco Reus and Jude Bellingham, among others.
Making progress
Having lost their first three games of the season, Pauli bounced back with a welcome point against RB Leipzig before picking up an impressive win against Freiburg on Matchday 5. However, they were well beaten by Mainz last time out.
Looking for consistency
Dortmund have had a mixed start to the season, with three wins, two losses and a draw.
