Full-time: RB Leipzig 2-3 Stuttgart

The Leipzig Lőw-down

"We sat down at the start of the week and talked. The lads know what they have to do against Stuttgart - they are determined to sign off with a home win for the fans, and that's exactly the attitude we expect of them."

The final day

Stuttgart, who have won two on the bounce, visit a Leipzig side who can no longer qualify for the Champions League as we draw the curtains on the 2024/25 Bundesliga season. Both sides are stacked with talent, and promise to provide an entertaining encounter to bow out on; Stuttgart sit in ninth, while Leipzig sit four points above in seventh. With hopes of reaching the Europa Conference League at least, the Red Bulls will have to throw everything at Sebastian Hoeneß's side in order to secure a crucial three points.
camera-photo

Zsolt Lőw on facing Stuttgart

“I expect Stuttgart to be razor-sharp and super-motivated. They want to win the game and prepare for the DFB cup final. Knowing Sebastian Hoeneß and his coaching team, he won't rotate much. They will have quality on the pitch.”
camera-photo

Sebastian Hoeneß on facing RB Leipzig

"They'll want to achieve something in their last home game. They're a very good side with a lot of power and speed. It's a big task but we want to carry our momentum on."

Zsolt's balanced record

Leipzig have an even record under interim coach Zsolt Lőw - winning two matches, drawing three and losing two.

Away day specialists

Stuttgart have collected more points away this season (24) than at home (23) - and have lost just one of their last seven away trips.

Leipzig threatened with unwanted first

Every season Leipzig have ever played in the Bundesliga has ended with qualification for European football - but that run is now very much on the line.

Final-day permutations

Leipzig will secure at least sixth place if they: a) better Mainz's result against Leverkusen; or b) achieve the same result as Mainz, but make up six goals on the 05ers to move ahead on goal difference. Teams with the same goal difference will then be separated by the number of goals scored. Mainz currently have two goals more this season.

Watch: Leipzig 0-0 Bremen - highlights

Leipzig's hopes of breaking back into the top four and playing in next season's UEFA Champions League were ended by their draw with Werder Bremen, coupled with unfavourable results elsewhere. They go into the final day in seventh place, and needing to win to have any chance of qualifying for Europe via their league standing.

Watch: Stuttgart 4-0 Augsburg - highlights

Stuttgart ended a six-game winless run in style on the penultimate weekend, but a top-six finish is beyond them. They'll have to win the DFB Cup on 24 May in order to qualify for next season's UEFA Europa League.
