Full-time: Bayern 3-2 St. Pauli

The scoreline suggests this one was closer than it actually was. Bayern dominated much of the game, especially in the second half, where Sané scored twice to give Bayern a 3-1 lead before Ritzka gave St. Pauli brief hope in stoppage time. The hosts restore their lead at the top to six points with just seven games left to play.

From St. Pauli 'saviour' to shareholder

Having organised a fundraising match between the German record champions and St. Pauli back in 2003 to aid the Hamburg-based club out of financial difficulties, former Bayern president Uli Hoeneß has long been held in high esteem by fans of the Boys in Brown. That bond was strengthened further this week when Hoeneß purchased co-operative shares in Pauli's Millerntor stadium.

Vincent Kompany on facing St. Pauli

“I've only been focusing on St. Pauli all week. They're a team who concede very few goals. They're also dangerous going forward, even if they haven't scored that many goals. We want to perform as best we can. The motivation is definitely there for this game."

Eberl on injury concerns

Board member for sport Max Eberl has expressed his opinion on Bayern's latest injury news. "Unfortunately, during international breaks, there's always the risk of players returning injured – this time it hit us particularly hard. The absences of Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano weigh heavily on Bayern."
camera-photo

Bayern's injury woe

The record champions have suffered a significant setback ahead of their encounter against Pauli with news that Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano have been sidelined. Davies's race is run this season after the Canada captain tore a cruciate ligament while on international duty. Upamecano, meanwhile, sustained a less severe knee injury while away with France.

Good news for Pauli?

After 26 games, Pauli have conceded just 30 goals, the third best record in the league. No side has ever been relegated having conceded that amount at this stage of the season.

Unwanted history on the horizon?

Having lost to Bochum and drawn with Union, Bayern could go three games without a win for the first time in over two years if they fail to be St. Pauli.
