Sebastian Hoeneß made one enforced change to his side in the wake of last week's 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim. Right-back Stergiou is out with a heel complaint, so Vagnoman comes into what is otherwise an unchanged line-up.

Central midfield pairing Kimmich and Pavlović are absent through injury and illness respectively, so they're replaced by Goretzka and Palhinha. Kimmich expected to miss tie

Vincent Kompany confirmed on Thursday that Joshua Kimmich is unlikely to travel to Stuttgart for the encounter on Friday evening having sustained a thigh injury in last Sunday's 4-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Leon Goretzka and Aleksander Pavlović are expected to form the deep bank of two in midfield in his absence.

Friday night's hosts have taken just four points from their last five Bundesliga games and have dropped to seventh place in the standings as a result. VfB's designs on a top-four finish could do with a lift this weekend, yet all concerned know how difficult it will be to achieve one, with Bayern arriving on a run of eight wins in their last nine unbeaten Bundesliga games.

Bayern's boss has now overseen 100 goals in his 36 games in all competitions at the helm of the Bavarian giants. In the Bundesliga this term, the record champions have scored an average of exactly three goals per game (69 in 23 games), which is the second best in German top-flight history at this stage of a campaign.

Kimmich a doubt

You can catch up on the latest ins and outs on the line-ups front in our post below, but one player who is a big doubt for this game is Bayern and Germany mainstay Joshua Kimmich, who suffered hamstring soreness in his team's win against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend. The Bavarian giants say the 30-year-old is being treated for tendonitis.

Jeltsch at the ready

It's been an incredible few weeks for new VfB defender Finn Jeltsch, the defender who recently signed for the Swabians from Nuremberg and now looks set for only a second start in Sebastian Hoeneß's side. The 18-year-old has had to adapt quickly to life in the Bundesliga and is now ready for the greatest of tests with Bayern in town. "The second division is at a really good level, but the Bundesliga is a different story," Jeltsch told Stuttgart's official website. "The biggest differences are the pace of the game and the quality of both the opposing teams and the individual players," he added.
