Off cue!

Müller doesn't connect with Laimer's cross, taking Kane by surprise. He can't make the chance count, though, with Rönnow throwing himself in the direction of the Englishman's follow-up attempt. Young midfielder Pavlovic is thrown on soon after. Kimmich will move to right-back.

Bedia tries to get on the end of a cross from the left, but fellow Bundesliga debutant Dier beats him to it at the expense of a corner. Bayern get it clear...

Flashpoint

Tempers flare between Bjelica and Sané on the touchline, with the Bayern forward unhappy at the Union coach's refusal to relinquish the ball for a throw. Bjelica is sent off after raising his hands; Sané is booked for his reaction.

Big, big chance!

Almost an equaliser from nowhere as Roussillon makes Neuer work from a tight angle. Behrens went down in the box as he tried to get to the initial cross, but nothing's given.

Bayern attack up the left once more with Coman. He drifts inside and is looking for Musiala, but it's headed behind for the game's first corner. Kimmich takes, his cross finding De Ligt at the back post. Rönnow blocks the header, and then spreads himself really well to deny Upamecano's close-range follow-up.

Nagelsmann watch

The Germany coach, who led Bayern to the 2021/22 Bundesliga title before being dismissed last spring, is in attendance. Less than five months to go until the Euros on German soil, remember...

In the tunnel

The Allianz Arena is a sea of red and white as the teams prepare to take to the pitch. Union have picked up just one point from their previous four visits here, but will be fresh after over a week off.

Huge task facing Union

The Berlin club have never beaten Bayern. What's more, the record champions have not suffered back-to-back defeats since November-December 2019, when they went down to Gladbach and Leverkusen.

Watch: Kane vs. Lewy

Harry Kane was kept quiet by Bremen at the weekend, but is still on course to break Robert Lewandowski's 41-goal single-season record. The England striker has struck 22 times in his first 17 Bundesliga games.

Team news - Union

New signing Chris Bedia's on the bench, with Benedict Hollerbach and Kevin Volland the front two. Christopher Trimmel comes in on the right-hand side for Josip Juranović, with Robin Gosens returning on the opposite flank. Lucas Tousart is preferred to Brenden Aaronson in midfield.

Team news - Bayern

Thomas Tuchel has made just one change to the side that lost 1-0 at home to Werder Bremen on Sunday: Alphonso Davies drops to the bench, meaning Raphael Guerreiro shifts back from central midfield to left-back, with Leon Goretzka filling the void alongside Joshua Kimmich in the middle of the pitch.

Tuchel on tonight's game

"We can do a lot of things better, there's plenty of room for improvement. [Against Bremen], we didn't play at the level we expect to play at for 70 minutes. The basis for every game is to play with passion, aggression, enthusiasm and to be strong in the challenges. They're the foundation for any tactical plans. We didn't show them at the weekend, but we'll try to show them out on the pitch [against Union]."

Bayern team news

For Bayern, Noussair Mazraoui and Minjae Kim are representing Morocco at the AFCON and South Korea at the Asian Cup respectively, while Serge Gnabry has not yet fully recovered from the muscular injury that has kept him out since the end of last year. Tuchel still has a host of options at his disposal, though.

Union team news

Head coach Bjelica does not have much to worry about in terms of absences. Aïssa Laïdouni is currently competing at the Africa Cup of Nations with Tunisia, making him unavailable, while captain Rani Khedira may be unavailable due to a calf problem. Otherwise, however, there is a full squad to choose from. New signing Chris Bedia may even make his debut, although it would be surprising to see him start.

Watch: Kevin Volland's historic strike

You can take a look at the Union forward's nine seconds of fame right here.

Volland's piece of Bayern history

Kevin Volland has two Bundesliga goals since his move to the Stadion an der Alten Försterei, but it was his strike for Hoffenheim against the Rekordmeister way back in 2015 that has gone down in Bundesliga history. His effort after nine seconds is the joint-fast ever the German top flight has ever seen.

Bjelica: "It's certainly possible"

Despite the size of the task facing his team at the Allianz Arena, Union manager Nenad Bjelica is confident his team can get a result. In he pre-match press conference, he said, "You've got to have a top performance and a bit of luck, but when things come together, it's certainly possible to take a result away from Munich". He did, however, go on to add that Bremen's victory may well have "poked the bear".

Unfamiliar position for Bayern

Thomas Tuchel's men are used to leading the way in the German top flight, but they are having to chase league-leaders Bayer Leverkusen at the moment. The loss to Bremen prevented them from reducing the seven-point gap and, while three points here would see them gain some ground, they have a battle on their hands given Leverkusen are still unbeaten in all competitions. Anything other than a win for Tuchel and Co. would put his side under significant pressure.

Things looking up for Union

It was a difficult start to the season for Union, who sat bottom of the table after 11 games having lost 9 in a row. That led to the sacking of head coach Urs Fischer, a club legend, but replacement Nenad Bjelica has steadied the ship. From the five Bundesliga games he has presided over, the side from the capital have picked up 8 points, losing just once. As such, they are now three points above the relegation zone with two games in hand over 17th-placed Cologne.

Head-to-head

Bayern and Union have met eight times since the latter were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2019. The visitors are still without a win against their illustrious opponents, although they have managed three draws along the way. They were beaten 3-0 in their last game against Die Roten at the Allianz Arena, a result they will be eager to improve upon.
