Daniel Farke: "We want to finish the season as strongly, and with as many points, as possible. We have improved a lot defensively recently; that was our aim. But we have been lacking penetration going forward. We want to improve in this area in the remaining weeks and create more chances."

There has been a marked improvement under Hoeneß, with the former Hoffenheim coach overseeing a 3-2 win against Bochum, a remarkable 3-3 draw with Borussia Dortmund and another 1-1 stalemate with Augsburg, as well as a DFB Cup quarter-final victory over Bundesliga 2 side Nuremberg. VfB currently occupy the relegation play-off spot, but could climb above the waterline with the right combination of results this weekend.

Despite posting some impressive wins over the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund this season, Gladbach have been very hit and miss. They've only won one of eight since beating Bayern on 18 February, and begin the weekend in 10th place, nine points outside the top seven.
