BAYERN EDGE CLOSER

Bayern move seven points clear of Leipzig, with five rounds of fixtures remaining. Jamal Musiala was very much the star of the show for the injury-hit record champions. Wolfsburg stay third.

HERNANDEZ DOWN

It's an accidental clash between Mbabu and Hernandez, but the Bayern man stays down after taking a stray leg to his left knee. Worrying for Bayern - he can't continue...

TIME ADDED ON

Five to go for Wolfsburg to rescue a point - or for Bayern to put the result beyond doubt...
84'

BIG, BIG CHANCE!

Golden opportunity for Wolfsburg to level goes begging. Roussillon hares clear of Pavard - it's what he was brought on to do - but he drags his shot wide. Bialek was in the centre, and was arguably the more sensible option.

BIG MEN

Two big men in attack for Wolfsburg now, with Bartosz Bialek replacing Philipp and joining Weghorst on the pitch. The home side have dropped off in the last few minutes - will the fresh legs have the desired effect in the final 10 minutes?

MUSIALA MAKES WAY

If fans were present, they'd be on their feet right now. Musiala makes way as the youngest player to six goals in Bundesliga history. Kingsley Coman is on.
71'

A WHISKER AWAY!

Brekalo teases a ball across goal towards the back post. Weghorst is arriving, but gets there too late. Let-off for Bayern.
64'

DAVIES STINGER

Bayern drive forward on the counter. Davies cuts inside of Mbabu, before stinging the palms of Casteels. The ball goes behind for a corner, which comes to nothing. Welcome respite for Bayern after a very strong spell for the Wolves.

POSITIVE WOLFSBURG CHANGES

Brekalo and Roussillon are on for the home side. Two quick players - Glasner fancies his chances...

WOLFSBURG HIT BACK!

Wolfsburg do score first! Otavio's given all the time in the world to picks his cross. It's arrowed towards the near-post, where Maxi Philipp thunders high into the roof of the net. What a game this is turning out to be!

OFF THE LINE!

Musiala so close to a hat-trick. He collects from Müller and fires goalwards, but Lacroix clears off the line!

NO CHANGES

As you were in Wolfsburg. A Wolfsburg goal would make this very interesting; another Bayern goal would surely settle matters. Who'll blink first?

OVER AND OUT

Brooks wins a near-post header from Gerhardt's in-swinging corner, but can't direct his effort on target. That's the final action of an entertaining half, shaded by the unerringly accurate record champions.
38'

MUSIALA AT THE DOUBLE!

Bayern restore their two-goal advantage. Müller goes on the overlap and crosses for Musiala - it's an awkward one, but the teenager makes it look easy, sending a looping header back across goal and beyond Casteels. What a reaction, what a player!

WEGHORSSSST!!!!

Wolfsburg are back in it! Müller's pass is a touch short, Sane's flat-footed, and all of a sudden Schlager is away. He feeds Weghorst, who caresses a stunning first-time finish just out of Neuer's reach. Game on!

SANE!!!

Here come Bayern again, this time with men over. Sane leads the charge and lays the ball off to Müller, before continuing his run. The ball comes back to him on the edge of the area, but he sidefoots wide on his weaker right-hand side. He's not happy with himself - neither is Choupo-Moting, who was unmarked to his right.

SANE CHANCE!

Superb one-touch football from Bayern. Davies is involved, the Canadian feeding Müller in the Wolfsburg box. He helps it on to Sane, who curls over from just inside the area. The direction was spot on, but the trajectory all wrong.

WEGHORST CONCERN

Wout Weghorst hits the deck on the stretch, and momentarily stays down. It looks like a groin issue, but he is able to return to his feet. That's the last thing Wolfsburg need...

JOY FOR BAYERN

25'

BAYERN MAKE IT TWO!

Bayern double their lead, but it's an absolute gift of a goal. Koen Casteels attempts to catch Alaba's cut-back, but only succeeds in palming the ball onto the foot of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. He can't miss, and is almost embarrassed to celebrate.

MUSIAAAAAAALA!

He's done it again! A cross from Alphonso Davies is blocked into the path of Jamal Musiala, who's surrounded by three Wolfsburg shirts. He shimmies past the lot, before firing low and hard past Casteels. Is he human, or is he dancer?!

HUNTING IN PACKS

It's easy to see why Wolfsburg boast the second meanest defence in this season's Bundesliga. They're showing great hustle, and barely allowing the red shirts any time on the ball.

NEUER TO THE RESCUE!

First sight of the Wolfsburg goal for Bayern. Choupo-Moting hits it well from just inside the box, but Casteels gets right behind it.

HALF CHANCE!

Bayern don't clear their lines from a throw as Leroy Sane's power-puff header drops for Schlager. He takes it on first time from 18 yards, but it's on his weaker left foot and drifts comfortably wide.

TEAMS OUT

Kick-off is just around the corner at the Volkswagen Arena. Wolfsburg are in all green; Bayern head to toe in red. Classic colours - will it be a classic encounter?

GLASNER ON BAYERN

"We’re not afraid but we have great respect for Bayern Munich. We’re hugely looking forward to the game. We want to show that we can match Bayern and will do everything to win this game. […] The big test against Munich’s attacking power will be not to concede, or to concede as few goals as possible. That’s the big challenge."

FLICK ON WOLFSBURG

"It’s nice to test yourself against the best and Wolfsburg are one of the best. They have an excellent coach and a team who deserve to be right up there. They always put the opposition under pressure, they’re good from set pieces and deliver a lot of crosses. Wout Weghorst is brilliant at dominating the penalty area. They’re where they are on merit and could play in the Champions League next season."

TABLE TALK

Bayern have the chance to open up a seven-point lead over Leipzig, who could only draw 0-0 with Hoffenheim on Friday. A Wolfsburg win would keep the gap to just four points, whilst consolidating their own position in the top four. Oliver Glasner's side begin the weekend in third place, with a relatively healthy eight-point cushion on fifth-in-the-table Borussia Dortmund.

HISTORY ON BAYERN'S SIDE

Lewandowski or not, recent history doesn't suggest that Bayern will have much trouble this weekend. The champions have come out on top in their last six matches against the Wolves, are unbeaten in 11 Bundesliga matches between the teams, and have won on their last six visits to Wolfsburg. Bayern have often romped to victory as well. There was a 4-0 away win on the final day of last season, both a 5-0 and 5-1 success, as well as two 6-0 thrashings. In total, Wolfsburg have managed only four wins in 54 games across all competitions against the record champions.

HIGHLIGHTS: BAYERN 2-1 WOLFSBURG

Wolfsburg were unbeaten until they travelled to Bayern on Matchday 12. Despite taking the lead, the Wolves succumbed to a Lewandowski brace at the Allianz Arena.

SPARED LEWY

Lewandowski has scored more Bundesliga goals against Wolfsburg than any other club he’s faced. The Poland international has struck 23 times in 20 meetings with the Wolves, including five in just nine minutes one famous September night in 2015. Happily for the Auto City Club, he's not quite match fit following a knee ligament injury. Bayern coach Hansi Flick expects to have his star striker back next weekend for the game against Mainz.

MR. MAKER

Thomas Müller heads the assists charts once again in 2020/21. He's set up 16 goals so far this term, including five across Bayern's last four league games.

WOLFSBURG'S DANGER MAN

Wout Weghorst scored 17 Bundesliga goals in 2018/19, 16 last season and has 18 so far this term. However, the Dutchman has struck once in five meetings with Bayern.

MORE ON THAT WOLFSBURG TEAM

Paulo Otavio goes straight into the side at left-back following a four-match ban. Yannick Gerhardt moves into a holding role in the absence of Maxi Arnold, while Joao Victor makes only his third Bundesliga start of the season at the expense of Josip Brekalo.

MORE ON THAT BAYERN TEAM

Bayern are still without a whole host of first-team regulars in Lewandowski, Goretzka and Gnabry. Lucas Hernandez is passed fit to start, though, while Alphonso Davies returns from suspension at left-back. David Alaba tucks in alongside Joshua Kimmich in midfield, while Jamal Musiala starts on the left wing, with Kingsley Coman taking his place on a somewhat inexperienced bench.
