CLOSE AGAIN!

Baumgartner drives at the Union goal before finding Sessegnon to his left, who plays the ball across goal in search of a touch from Bebou. It comes off Schlotterbeck again, but Karius is in the right place to stop him scoring a second own-goal of the afternoon.

INTO THE FINAL MINUTES...

Union are looking dangerous on the break, but Hoffenheim are handling their advances when they come and looking lively in attack themselves. This could still go either way into the final minutes.

HOFFENHEIM GOAL RULED OUT!

Kaderabek thinks he has a first goal since November 2019, but it's ruled out. Rudy's pass into the middle to Baumgartner was played with the Austrian just offisde before he assisted Kaderabek's strike.
81'

OFF THE LINE!

Hoffenheim denied the lead once more as Gentner heads off his own line following a scramble in front of goal. Sessegnon battled Trimmel for the ball before Baumgartner slid in and the ball looped up and towards goal. Gentner was on hand to head away.

HUGE CHANCE FOR BEBOU!

That should have been the go-ahead goal for Hoffenheim. Kramaric plays an inch-perfect pass into the Union area for Bebou to run onto and he reaches it ahead of Karius before chipping the Union 'keeper. But he's wayward with his effort and the ball bounces wide across goal. Will we see another chance like that?

KRUSE COMES OFF

A well-earned breather for Kruse, replaced by Teuchert for the final 16 minutes or so.

TWENTY TO PLAY

This game is still on a knife-edge in Berlin with both sides looking capable of what could be a winning goal with time ticking on.
67'

FIRST CHANGE

Sessegnon is on for Hoffenheim, replacing John on the left.
65'

KRAMARIC BLOCKED AGAIN!

Bebou makes a lovely run down the right before chipping the ball to Rudy in the area, and he immediately hits it across goal. It comes out to Kramaric, who swivels to volley with his left, but once again it's blocked in front of goal.
63'

DOUBLE CHANGE

Moves made by Urs Fischer in midfield and attack with Gentner and Musa on with less than half an hour to play.
61'

KRUSE TESTS BAUMANN

Another cross from the right bounces all the way through to Kruse on the other side of the box. It looks like he's attempting a low cross back across goal himself, but a touch off Rudy sends it the way of Baumann but he's alive to grab it.
58'

COULD GO EITHER WAY FROM HERE

Both sides are seeing plenty of the ball in this second half so far and with the scores as they are, there's no guessing which way this game could go.

DANGEROUS MOVE

Trimmel is once again involved as he lofts a cross to the back post from the right flank. It's met by Ingvartsen, but he decides the head the ball down in front of goal rather than going for goal himself. But to his disappointment, there's new man in red ready to get on the lay-off.
53'

KRAMARIC SHOT BLOCKED!

Hoffenheim have weathered the early Union storm in this second half and are getting started themselves. Kramaric with a beautiful turn past Friedrich's sliding challenge before shooting from the edge of the Union, but Knoche makes a crucial block.
48'

DETERMINED START

Trimmel does superbly to pass by John on the right before firing a low cross into the Hoffenheim area. Baumann can only dive to parry the ball back in front of his own goal, but his defence comes to his aid to clear at the second time of asking.
46'

BACK UNDERWAY!

The second half is off and running with one change for Union at the break. Bülter is on for Lenz on the left flank.

HOFFENHEIM CONFIDENT

The away side have been on the front foot since going behind in the 9th minute, and are deservedly level. While they haven't tested Karius in the Union goal as much as they would have liked, they have kept the pressure on the home side.
39'

RUDY NOT FAR AWAY!

Another chance for Hoffenheim as Ingvartsen loses out to Rudy just outside his own area, and the birthday boy fires a snap-shot at goal looking for the far top corner over Karius. It beats the Union 'keeper, but just drifts over the crossbar as well.
37'

SHOT BLOCKED!

Kaderabek's lofted cross into the box takes an age to come down, but falls for Baumgartner when it does. His touch drops the ball off to Samassekou on the edge and he hits a first-time shot towards goal but it's blocked by the Union defence alive to the danger.
35'

MIDFIELD BATTLE

A lot of this game is being played in the middle of the pitch, with neither side in full control of possession or keeping their opposition stuck in their own half. Hoffenheim's Baumgartner is getting stuck into proceedings from a central position.

HOFFENHEIM ARE LEVEL!

The goal has come for the away side and the game is level before the half-hour mark. Lenz's poor pass is picked up by Samassekou and he sends Kramaric away into the Union area. He clips the ball back just before reaching the byline and it's bundled home by Bebou, ahead of Karius and in front of Schlotterbeck. Bebou will certainly claim that one!

HOFFENHEIM WORKING

Union have had just one shot on goal so far, Kruse's converted penalty. Hoffenheim have had six but have not found a way past Karius and the home defence, which has been their problem in recent weeks. Patience is key, though, as they're providing more attacking impetus than their hosts here.
22'

HOFFENHEIM'S HIGH LINE

We mentioned that Hoeneß's side have caught opposition players offside more often than any other team in the league this season. Same old story today already...

GOOD RESPONSE

Hoffenheim have bounced back well since going behind here. Chances for Bebou and Baumgartner have come and gone, but a high defensive line matched with intense pressing up the pitch is helping Hoffenheim restrict Union's time on the ball in the last few minutes.

NICE TO HAVE YOU BACK, MAX!

MORE CHANCES!

Karius is forced into action again to make a fine save in denying Grillitsch's curling shot, which was heading for the far bottom corner after a Hoffenheim corner. The next that followed fell to Baumgartner in front of goal, but he snatched at his shot from around eight yards out.
13'

BIG CHANCE FOR BEBOU!

Hoffenheim find space in behind the Union backline for the first time and Bebou is so close to scoring. It's a first-time flick over the top from Kramaric which sends Bebou away, and he lobs Karius from inside the area, but Friedrich comes to the rescue to clear just in front of his own goal.
12'

UNION FINDING THEIR FLOW

Confidence is brewing now in the home side with fine passing play out of defence, with Pohjanpalo keeping the Hoffenheim defence awake.
9'

KRUSE BACK WITH A BANG!

After 86 days on the sidelines, it takes Kruse just nine minutes to get back on the scoresheet. A stutter in his step as he walks up to the penalty, looking at Baumann all the way as he places the ball in the top corner despite Baumann diving the correct way. Seven now for Kruse in just 11 games this season.

GETTING ON THE BALL

No chances at either end in the opening 5 minutes, but both sides have had plenty of touches of the ball in the early stages. Grillitsch is indeed in the centre of Hoffenheim's defence, while Kruse is right up top alongside Pohjanpalo for Union.

KING KRUSE RETURNS!

Union's star summing signing is back and starts for the first time since 4 December 2020. Kruse has scored the highest number of his 80 Bundesliga goals to date in meetings with Hoffenheim (eight) and will be looking to return to action with a bang after a two-month lay-off.

UNION TEAM NEWS

Union have been boosted by the return to training of six-goal top scorer Kruse, and he is even fit to start for the first time since the end of 2020, with Pohjanpalo alongside him up front. Gießelmann is out for the time being with a shoulder injury, so the Frankfurt-bound Lenz should have an uninterrupted run on Die Eisernen's left flank - after passing a last-minute fitness test of his own.

HOFFENHEIM TEAM NEWS

Grillitsch filled in for the suspended Vogt in the middle of Hoffenheim's back three last weekend. Both start this time around, with Richards looking safe as the third cog in that defensive machine since his loan signing from Bayern. Sessegnon is back in full training and but does not replace John on the left flank, with Hoeneß not changing much.
