HONOURS EVEN

A thoroughly entertaining match at the Commerzbank Arena, where you suspect both sides will be pleased with a point after over 20 attempts on goal, but both will also feel there was more in this game for them. It’s a fifth consecutive draw for Eintracht Frankfurt but Gladbach put two points between themselves and RB Leipzig in fourth.

DRMIC!

This really should've been the winner! Josip Drmic completely free at the far post gets onto a cross from the left, but he shins the ball into the ground and it bounces over the bar!

ON COMES JOVIC

Adi Hütter responds immediately by sending on the Bundesliga's top scorer Luka Jovic. You feel there may be another goal in this still...

ZAKARIA LEVELS!

It's kind of been coming but this is route one stuff from Gladbach to equalise. Strobl with a direct ball from the halfway line through the middle of the pitch, Zakaria spins and puts the ball past Trapp, who will feel he could've done better after getting a hand to the ball.

ALMOST FOR DRMIC!

The substitute almost makes an impact coming around the far post to get onto a cross, but he stuns the ball more than hitting it and Trapp can react from just a few yards away to stick out a leg.
78'

REBIC DOWN AGAIN

Frankfurt make their first change with captain Gelson Fernandes running out of gas, and he's replaced by Jetro Willems. But as play restarts Rebic hits the deck completely unopposed, seemingly stumbling over some turf. The forward is soon back on his feet though.

KRAMER OFF

Christoph Kramer has finally run out of steam and is now replaced by Tobias Strobl for Gladbach's final substitution.

REBIC WIDE!

Sebastien Haller sends Ante Rebic in behind the Gladbach defence and he only has Sommer to beat, but the Croatian drags his effort wide. The Borussia defenders were all looking around for a flag.

PLEA ON

Dieter Hecking sends on the attacking reinforcements for Gladbach with Patrick Herrmann making way for top scorer Alassane. Josip Drmic is also on for his first appearance of the season but his 50th in Borussia colours.

NOT A MOMENT'S REST

You'd never suspect that one of these teams was playing all the way out in Ukraine based on the pace of this game. Makoto Hasebe tries to slow it down slightly by halting Lars Stindl in his tracks in midfield, but the relentless pace continues.

BREATHLESS STUFF

The focus immediately switches to the other end of the pitch again as Oscar Wendt forces a sharp save off Trapp at his near post. The corner then comes all the way across to Kramer at the back, whose half-volley is headed behind by De Guzman on the post.
55'

JOHNSON BLOCKS!

Up the other end Gacinovic slips in his compatriot Kostic to his left, but the Serb's shot is blocked at the last second by Fabian Johnson.
54'

HERRMANN!

Does this go down as a bit of a howler? It's great play down the Gladbach right as Johnson flicks the ball in behind to Hazard, who flashes the ball across goal. Herrmann is alone at the far post but completely misses the ball. Was he put off by Hinteregger's swinging leg in front of him?
53'

GLADBACH BREAK

It's been all Frankfurt so far this half but Borussia manage to break away through Hazard, who wants to shoot as he races away on the right but instead decides to lay the ball back to Patrick Herrmann. The winger has the chance to shoot on his left but instead looks to cross on his right, but it's blocked by the first man.
46'

KRAMER DOWN

The first change may not be far in coming though. Just one touch of the ball from Christoph Kramer at the kick-off and he's down holding his knee. Tobias Strobl is out warming up.
46'

BACK UNDERWAY

So how will Gladbach respond to going behind? Both teams resume unchanged for the second half.

DA COSTA POUNCES!

Gladbach switch off at a short corner which is worked more central. The ball into the box from Jonathan de Guzman is more of a shot, but it's controlled by Danny da Costa, who spins inside the six-yard box before firing the ball past Sommer into the net. It's the last kick of a first half filled with attacking football, but Gladbach will be disappointed to be behind after their performance.

KOSTIC!

The Serbia international tries his own luck this time with a wicked shot from 30 yards, which Sommer does well to reach on the dive low to his left.

TOO HIGH FOR HALLER

Filip Kostic digs out a cross from the left, which seems to catch out Haller in the middle as he mistimes his jump and fails to turn his header towards goal.
34'

NEUHAUS CAN'T CONVERT

Mijat Gacinovic  scythes down Hazard at the expense of a free-kick and booking. The Gladbach forward then lofts the ball into the box, which is flicked onto Florian Neuhaus at the far post but he puts his effort straight at Trapp from a narrow angle.

BORUSSIA DOMINANT

Hazard chips in a long free-kick that Trapp comes out to claim, but it's very much been Gladbach on the front foot so far today with six shots to Frankfurt's two. The Eintracht front two of Haller and Rebic have only touched the ball 12 and 11 times respectively.
26'

SAVE!

Perhaps the best chance of the game as Lars Stindl squares the ball for for Denis Zakaria, who's given the Eintracht defence the slip, but the Swiss international puts his shot straight at goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
24'

HAZARD OVER

The Belgian times a brilliant run to get on the end of an equally good long ball from Christoph Kramer. Hazard manages to lose his maker but hits his shot early from the right of the box, which flies high and wide.
20'

REBIC!

First time Frankfurt have worked Yann Sommer in the Gladbach goal today as the Croatian lets fly from range, a simple hold for the Swiss keeper though.
18'

OVER THE TOP

Coach Dieter Hecking is venting his frustration down on the bench as Hazard curls the ball well over the bar. He knows his charge can do better than that.
16'

DANGEROUS FREE-KICK

Hazard sets off on a run from left to right looking for space to shoot but he's tripped and wins a free-kick just right of centre around 20 yards out.
8'

HAZARD!

An early warning shot from Borussia with Thorgan Hazard in plenty of space on the left as the ball comes across the front of the box. The Belgian hits it first time with the inside of his boot but it only ruffles the outside of the net, prompting some cheers from fans who thought the ball had crept inside the post.
7'

FOALS FORWARD

Great pace at the start of this game as Gladbach go from one end to the other in just a couple of passes, but Frankfurt have their defence well positioned to halt the attack before it reaches their penalty area.
2'

REBIC DOWN

The sun is shining in Frankfurt but Ante Rebic is not smiling as he takes an early blow to his ankle. The Croatian is back onto his feet quickly enough though.

CRACKING ATMOSPHERE

With two such exciting teams going head-to-head today, it's no surprise the Commerzbank Arena is packed today. And we're just moments away from kick-off as the teams greet each other in the tunnel.

TWO SIDES OF THE MAGIC TRIANGLE ?

So for the first time in 2019, Eintracht Frankfurt line up for a Bundesliga match without their attacking trio of Sebastien Haller, Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic. It's the latter who misses out today despite being the Bundesliga's top scorer with 14 goals. Gladbach are also without their top scorer with Alassane Plea joining the Serbian on the benches.
