Decades in the making

After 26 Bundesliga and two DFB Cup encounters, both teams meet in Bundesliga 2 for the first time in 31 years. Wolfsburg have not lost any of their four second division meetings against Der Club (one win, three draws), with both second division fixtures in Nuremberg ending 0-0.

Full circle moment?

Nuremberg have gone six competitive matches without a win against Wolfsburg, last celebrating a victory all the way back in November 2012, when under coach Dieter Hecking (now managing director of Wolfsburg), Timo Gebhart scored the only goal of the game to claim victory in the Bundesliga.
