Full-time: Union 0-2 Hoffenheim

Union Berlin fell to a third defeat of the season after suffering a hangover from their historic trip to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. Leonardo Bonucci conceded an early penalty, which Andrej Kramaric converted, and Maximilian Beier doubled the guests’ lead for a win which takes them – provisionally – into the top four.

Beier doubles up!

Union's hopes of moving off the foot of the table have been dealt another setback as Beier doubles Hoffenheim's lead! Route one stuff with the ball pumped forward for Prömel, who crosses it low and Beier stretches out to get the deftest of touches on the ball and turn it into the far post, for his fourth of the season.

Král out after warm-up

A late change in the Union starting XI, with Král dropped from the initial starting XI. He has not been deemed fully fit after taking a knock against Real Madrid, so Aaronson replaces him in the starting XI.

Union team news

The Irons were 60 seconds from taking a famous point off Real Madrid on their UEFA Champions League debut on Wednesday. Leonardo Bonucci made his first Union start at the Bernabéu, but fresh legs may be needed for the visit of Hoffenheim. Urs Fischer is particularly fond of rotating his full-backs, so Josip Juranovic and Robin Gosens could make way.

Hoffenheim teams news

Pellegrino Matarazzo, who is still without Stanley Nsoki, has said defender Attila Szalai "must be patient and wait for his chance" after the Hungarian was dropped in favour of Ozan Kabak for the win over Cologne. Pavel Kaderabek and Robert Skov are set to continue on the flanks, meanwhile, at the expense of the more attack-minded Ihlas Bebou and Marius Bülter.
