Kimmich eyes response

After suffering their first domestic defeat of the season at the weekend at the hands of Augsburg, the Bayern midfielder admitted: "We have to accept this defeat; it wasn't even undeserved. We lacked the hunger to win, weren't dominant, and weren't at peak fitness. Towards the end, Augsburg were more aggressive than we were." The No.6 then added: "Of course we always want to win, especially at home, but the most important thing now is how we respond."

Familiar faces

Pléa, Boadu and Pepi are not the only ex-Bundesliga players Bayern will recognise. Matěj Kovář (Bayer Leverkusen) and Kiliann Sildillia (Freiburg) both joined the Dutch side from German clubs, while Paul Wanner and Ivan Perišić have previously played for the record German champions.

Paul Wanner on facing his former side

"We're highly motivated and a hundred per cent ready. We absolutely want to win at home and I'm really looking forward to it. I know a lot of the players and a lot of the people there, I've known some of them since they were kids, so I'm still in touch with them. I had a terrific time at Bayern. I'm incredibly grateful to the club."
camera-photo

Harry Kane on bouncing back against PSV

"We have to approach it with the same mindset as in all the games and try to win. We can expect a tough game at a tough venue. But we're ready for the challenge. We had a tough draw in the Champions League, but we've handled it well so far. Now we have one more game to wrap up the league phase in the best possible way."
camera-photo

Peter Bosz on facing Bayern

"They've scored 72 goals in 19 Bundesliga games, which is significantly more than we've scored in the Eredivisie. That says everything about their strength. They force you into one-on-one situations all over the pitch. And of course they have enormous quality in their team."

Bayern - the story so far

The Bundesliga leaders have been in scintillating form in the Champions League, their only blemish a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. Vincent Kompany's team remain second in the standings, with Wednesday's 2-0 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise securing their place in the last 16 with a game to spare. They have also beaten Chelsea, Pafos, Club Brugge, Paris Saint-Germain and Sporting Lisbon in this season's league phase.

PSV - the story so far

PSV lost 3-1 to Union Saint-Gilloise in their league-phase opener but bounced back in style, beating Napoli and Liverpool 6-2 and 4-1 respectively while picking up valuable points at Bayer Leverkusen and Olympiacos. However, after back-to-back defeats against Atlético Madrid and Newcastle United, Peter Bosz’s team remain on eight points after seven matches, leaving them in 22nd place and in danger of missing out on the knockout stage play-offs altogether.
