Jonathan Tah and the five players that won the most aerial duels in 2024/25
Jonathan Tah won the most aerial duels won in 2024/25, a fitting end to his Bayer Leverkusen career - but who else makes the top five? bundesliga.com reveals all...
1. Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen), 78 percent won
Although Tah and Leverkusen couldn't wrestle top spot from Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich, the towering centre-half, who has since joined the Belgian coach's ranks in Munich, was comfortably the strongest player in the air in the 2024/25 Bundesliga season.

2. Patrick Mainka (Heidenheim), 71.7 percent won
It was a busy season for Heidenheim captain Mainka and the rest of his team, who faced a battle to stay in the Bundesliga. They came out on top in their relegation play-off against Elversberg, however, with Mainka winning 71.7 percent of his aerial duels across the campaign.

3. Willi Orbán (RB Leipzig), 71.6 percent won
In third is RB Leipzig's captain Orbán, who steered the Red Bulls through a difficult season of their own. While missing out on European football was the sum of the Saxony side's disappointment, it was still far off of their pre-season expectations. Nevertheless, the Hungarian never shied away from his defensive duties despite the side's wobbles.
4. Robin Koch (Eintracht Frankfurt), 71.2 percent won
The foundations of a good team lie in their defence, and Koch was key to Frankfurt's climb to third place with his ability to win aerial duels. The Eagles kept nine clean sheets, with the Germany international a big part of building that record. He also finished in the top five for passes completed with 92.6 percent.

5. Chrislain Matsima (FC Augsburg), 70.6 percent won
The young Frenchman joined Augsburg last summer, initially on loan, and went on to make 30 Bundesliga appearances in his debut season. That loan became permanent in January 2025, with his impressive aerial ability one of the reasons why those upstairs were keen to keep him in Bavaria for the foreseeable future.
