Bayer Leverkusen snatch a late draw against unbeaten Augsburg
Substitute Patrik Schick scored late as Bayer Leverkusen fought back to rescue a point against unbeaten Augsburg in a thrilling four-goal contest.

Augsburg entered the game top of the Bundesliga for the first time in their history, having won their opening two matches under head coach Manuel Baum with the same starting XI for the first time since December 2025. Notably, Finn Dahmen made his 100th Bundesliga appearance.
Leverkusen, coached by Carles Martínez, made two changes from their 4-0 win over Union Berlin, with Moussa Diaby starting for the first time since his deadline day return and Christian Kofane making his first start of the season.
Kofane strikes with a moment of quality
Leverkusen dominated the early exchanges without creating much until the 18th minute when Edmond Tapsoba clipped a long ball behind the Augsburg defence for Kofane. The forward brought it down, wrongfooted Chrislain Matsima with a Cruyff turn and rolled it past Dahmen to make it 1-0.
Leverkusen will be disappointed not to have taken a two-goal lead into the break having seen Ibrahim Maza denied by a goal-line intervention from Noahkai Banks.
Dramatic second-half sees three goals
Augsburg came out sharper after the restart and levelled in the 50th minute when Hennes Behrens combined with Arijon Ibrahimović before slipping a reverse pass through for Michael Gregoritsch, who poked the ball past Mark Flekken.
Five minutes later, the Austrian struck again, heading in unmarked from a Fabian Rieder corner to put the hosts ahead, before a goal by Leverkusen's Maza was subsequently ruled out for a foul by Jarell Quansah in the build-up.
Leverkusen threw on Patrik Schick, Guéla Doué, Malik Tillman and Martin Terrier as they chased an equaliser, laying siege to the Augsburg goal but finding Dahmen and a resolute defence in the way for long spells until, deep into stoppage time, Matsima's clearance fell to Tillman, whose low shot was diverted in by Schick's deft flick to make it 2-2, denying the leaders victory at the death.
Man of the Match: Michael Gregoritsch
Gregoritsch scored both Augsburg goals, turning the game around within five minutes early in the second half after Leverkusen had led at the break. Becoming Augsburg's record goalscorer with 38 goals, he was named Man of the Match with 76 percent of the vote.
