Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany on Franz Beckenbauer Supercup win: 'It was a statement'
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany says his side's Franz Beckenbauer Supercup success against Borussia Dortmund "was a statement" as they bid for more glory in 2026/27.
Kompany (Bayern coach): "I'm very happy with the win. Michael Olise and Harry Kane trained three times with us and were able to play 90 minutes. Nene [Brown] and Saibari will give us a big extra this season. We still have Lenny [Karl], Jamal [Musiala] and Serge Gnabry to come back.
"Regardless of the result today, it was a statement of energy, fighting for every ball, every situation. Some people maybe think we'll have a drop because we won everything last year. But that won't be the case, we won't rest and will try to win everything"

Jonathan Tah (Bayern defender): “I think the most important thing in a final like this is to win, and we did that. The game was a bit difficult at times. We could have done better in some moments but in the end it’s about winning the trophy and we did that. Nene Brown is doing amazing. He had a great performance today. You can also see in training that he’s adapted quite well and quickly. I’m happy he’s here with us.”
Manuel Neuer (Bayern goalkeeper): "It feels good. We faced the second best team in Germany away from home, it's always a fight and I think the better team won today. The Supercup is always a good season opener to see where we stand."

Joey Veerman (Dortmund midfielder): "“I think the first half was difficult but we came back in the second half. I think we played well in the second half. I’ve only been here for four days so it’s a bit difficult, but I think we have a good mix of guys who are older and younger talents. It’s a shame that we lost. We wanted to win this game. We’ll go on in the league and we’ll try to win everything."
