Grant-Leon Ranos
Club:
Borussia Mönchengladbach
Position:
Forward
Price:
3M

At just 19 and yet to even make a Bundesliga or Bundesliga 2 appearance, Ranos is an unproven prospect at this level, having joined Gladbach over the summer from the Bayern Munich reserves.

Before you dismiss him outright, however, consider this: Ranos hit 20 goals in 36 outings in Germany’s fourth division last season and is already a full Armenia international. Moreover, he even scored twice in a 4-2 Euro 2024 qualifying win over Wales in Cardiff, with one of his strikes even nominated for Goal of the Round by UEFA.

And following the summer departures of Marcus Thuram and Lars Stindl at Gladbach, Ranos is certain to get plenty of playing time in what is shaping up to be an attack-minded side under new boss Gerardo Seoane. And for just 3M, you’ve got nothing to lose.

Jonathan Burkardt
Club: Mainz
Position:
Forward
Price:
6M

Burkardt missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury but the 22-year-old is now fit and raring to go again.

The former Germany U21 captain underlined his undoubted quality in 2021/22 with 11 Bundesliga goals in 34 outings, and is sure to be a boost to head coach Bo Svensson’s well-drilled side.

His price tag of just 6M makes him a steal and if he can regain his pre-injury form then the return on investment could be huge.

Luca Netz
Club:
Gladbach
Position:
Defender
Price:
7M

With Ramy Bensebaini moving to Dortmund over the summer, a spot has opened up at left-back for Gladbach. Handily, the Foals have a ready-made replacement on their books in Luca Netz.

Still just 20, the former Hertha Berlin defender already has 55 Bundesliga games under his belt. A natural left-footer, he enjoys getting forward and contributed one league goal and three assists for Gladbach last term. Expect him to improve on those numbers this time around under Seoane, especially if he is employed out of position as a wing-back or even a winger.

Leart Paqarada
Club:
Cologne
Position:
Defender
Price:
7M

Following Jonas Hector’s retirement, Cologne needed a new left-back for 2023/24 and they appear to have struck go(a)ld in Paqarada. At 28, he is a seasoned pro and a full Kosovo international.

He impressed for St. Pauli during their ultimately unsuccessful promotion tilt in Bundesliga 2 last term, but still registered three goals and a whopping 10 assists – the highest return for any defender in the division.

Indeed, his teasing left-footed deliveries from out wide will find eager takers in Steffen Tigges and Davie Selke, so expect plenty of points for assists and passes to shots.

Kevin Müller
Club:
Heidenheim
Position:
Goalkeeper
Price:
5M

Finding a goalkeeper is always tricky in Fantasy, a balancing act of juggling your budget and a (likely) lower points haul than your outfield crew. Müller represents a solid choice, though.

The Heidenheim stopper is the cheapest guaranteed starter in the game this season at just 5M.

He kept a division-best 15 clean sheets for the Bundesliga 2 champions last term, with defensive stability the foundation for that success.

Müller will almost certainly concede more than the 36 goals he let in last time out, but he’ll also make plenty of saves – banking you the points.
