Robert Glatzel scored his 11th goal of the season as Hamburg came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Bundesliga 2 leaders and city rivals St. Pauli.

Pauli 2-2 Hamburg
Goals: 1-0 Irvine 15' (assist: Hartel), 2-0 Heuer Fernandes (o.g. 27'), 2-1 Glatzel 58' (assist: Van der Brempt), 2-2 Pherai 60' (assist: Dompé)

The wintry conditions and falling snow belied the fiery nature of this Hamburg city derby, in which Pauli settled first. The hosts threatened after just four minutes when a well-worked corner routine saw Marcel Hartel find Eric Smith, but he couldn't keep his shot down. Jackson Irvine showed him how it was done a short while later with an almost carbon copy, except this time he drilled a low shot into the net. Pauli remained on top and doubled their lead in extraordinary fashion when HSV goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes hammered the ball into his own net when trying to clear. Pauli subsequently had further chances, most notably for Connor Metcalfe, who drilled wide following a strong run down the right.

If it had been a one-sided contest in the first half, that all changed after the interval, thanks in large part to the introduction of winger Jean-Luc Dompé, whose pace and directness forced Pauli onto the back foot more often. HSV pulled a goal back when Glatzel poked in from close range from Ignace van der Brempt's teasing cross, and just two minutes later they were level. Dompé found space wide on the left and curled a ball into the box for Immanuel Pherai, who turned his marker 12 yard from goal before drilling low into the net. Pauli had the better chances to grab a winner, with a Hartel diving header going straight at Heuer Fernandes and Irvine smashing over from a corner, but ultimately the spoils were shared.
