Serge Gnabry eyeing Bayern Munich return following long injury lay-off
After missing out on Germany's FIFA World Cup 2026 squad through injury, Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry has given an update on his fitness going into the new season.
Now on the road to recovery from the adductor injury he suffered in April, Gnabry has his eyes set on another successful campaign in 2026/27.
“I feel very good because I can feel I’m making progress with every session,” the 30-year-old told Bayern's official website.
“I miss the lads, team training, the intensity when the ball is involved."
Gnabry formed a key part of Bayern’s attack before his injury, contributing eight goals and six assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances in 2025/26 to help Vincent Kompany's side to back-to-back league titles.
He was also a nailed-on starter in Julian Nagelsmann's Germany team, before sustaining the injury in Bayern training.

Right now though, he’s focused on getting through rehab.
“I keep reminding myself: you’re doing all this to be able to play again. You’ve got to push through it today. You want to get as fit as possible again. When you’re struggling, you say: Okay, come on, do it, push through, you’ll feel better afterwards.”
Bayern’s season starts on 28 August when they face Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
