'Perfect' may well be an understatement in describing Michael Olise's start to the 2025/26 football season. After setting the Bundesliga alight in his maiden campaign in Germany last term, the Frenchman seems set to continue his trajectory for both club and country in 2025/26.

A goal inside 10 minutes for France in their 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine took Olise up to five goals in his opening five competitive appearances across all competitions this season.

The Bayern winger arrived inside the box from deep, where he was found by teammate Bradley Barcola, who teed him up for a clinical, first-time finish into the bottom right corner.

Olise could've added a second just minutes later, but was denied by a fantastic stop from Ukraine custodian Anatoliy Trubin. Ultimately, Olise's goal proved imperative as France emerged 2-0 winners at the final whistle, which saw them claim three points in Group D.

The winger's performance will have come as no surprise to fans of Der Rekordmeisterwho have watched Olise score four goals in his opening four matches for Bayern this season.

His goals have helped the Bavarian giants to the Bundesliga summit after two matchdays, with his brace in the season-opening 6-0 thrashing of Leipzig and what proved to be the winning goal in a 3-2 derby win at Augsburg taking his tally up to three in the league.

The Frenchman also scored an important goal as Bayern eeked out a 3-2 victory in the first round of the DFB Cup away to 3. Liga side Wehen Wiesbaden.

In fact, the only game in which Olise has failed to score so far this season was the 2-1 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup victory over Stuttgart. However, even though he didn't register a goal involvement that game, his performance still proved integral in Bayern claiming their first piece of silverware of the campaign.

It's not just his numbers that are catching the football world's attention either. The 2024/25 Rookie of the Season winner and league-wide top assist provider last season (with 15) currently tops the Bundesliga charts for goals (joint-most with three), shots taken (12), sprints (69), and intensive runs (188).

With five games, five wins, five goals, one trophy, and sitting atop the league - things could definitely be worse for Bayern's No.17.

An industrious player with the tendency for the sublime, Olise and everyone in and around Bayern will be hoping the Frenchman's outrageous form in the early stages of the season may long continue as it progresses.

Olise is next billed for action when France take on Iceland in their next Group D World Cup Qualifier on 9 September, before returning to club duties ahead of Bayern welcoming Hamburg for a Matchday 3 showdown at the Allianz Arena on Saturday 13 September.
