Jude Bellingham celebrates 100 Borussia Dortmund appearances
Jude Bellingham made his 100th competitive appearance for Borussia Dortmund in the 1-0 Revierderby win over Schalke on Saturday.
As incredible an achievement as that is for the 19-year-old, elite-level success is nothing new for the England international. bundesliga.com chronicles some of the midfielder's major milestones to date.
23 July 2020: signs for Dortmund
To a welcoming chorus of Hey Jude by The Beatles, Bellingham arrived in Dortmund from English second-tier side Birmingham City at the age of 17, having made his debut for the Blues at 16 years and 38 days. He was welcomed to the club by fellow Englishman Jadon Sancho, who took his compatriot under his wing during their one season together.
14 September 2020: marks Dortmund debut with a goal
What a way to announce your arrival at your new club! Thrust straight into the starting line-up in BVB's DFB Cup first-round game at third-tier outfit Duisburg, Bellingham scored his side's second goal in a 5-0 triumph, becoming the youngest goalscorer in the competition's history at 17 years, two months and 16 days. The record still stands to this day.
19 September 2020: first Bundesliga appearance
Just five days after that Borussia baptism, Bellingham got his maiden taste of the Bundesliga. He was in the starting XI for Lucien Favre's side and excelled once again. The man from Stourbridge teed up fellow teenager Gio Reyna for the opening goal in a 3-0 win, as the duo became the youngest ever assister-goalscorer combo in league history with a combined age of just 34.
12 November 2020: senior England debut
Bellingham's impressive start to life in Germany did not go unnoticed back in his homeland, with England manager Gareth Southgate calling him up to the senior squad for the first time in November 2020. The youngster replaced Chelsea's Mason Mount on 76 minutes and joined Sancho on the pitch for a brief cameo in a 3-0 friendly win over the Republic of Ireland at Wembley.
14 April 2021: Dortmund's youngest Champions League scorer
Think that was impressive? Bellingham went on to underline just how at home he is at the highest level by scoring in the second leg of Dortmund's UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City. BVB were ultimately knocked out of the competition by the Citizens, but Bellingham's place as Dortmund's youngest ever scorer in the Champions League was secure.
13 May 2021: First trophy with Dortmund
Having last won the DFB Cup in 2017, Dortmund had gone four years without a trophy. Bellingham helped end that drought as part of the starting line-up against RB Leipzig in the Cup final. Edin Terzic – who was in the last game of his first reign as head coach of the club – substituted England’s new star at half-time with the team 3-0 up and Bellingham on a booking. The 4-1 final score enabled BVB to lift the trophy for the fifth time in their history.
13 June 2021: Euro 2020 squad
If Bellingham was expecting a quiet summer after a busy debut season in German football, he was very much mistaken. Exactly a month after his DFB Cup success, the teenager was a second-half substitute against Croatia in the rescheduled Euro 2020 tournament. He would feature on two more occasions for England in the competition as they reached the final, but ultimately lost out on penalties against Italy.
21 October 2021: First Golden Boy nomination
The youngster was included in the final 20-player shortlist for Europe’s Golden Boy award that recognises the continent's best U21 players, alongside fellow Dortmund youngsters Gio Reyna and Erling Haaland.
23 October 2021: wonder goal against Bielefeld
His reputation firmly established as a box-to-box player equally adept at breaking up attacks as he is at launching them, Bellingham served notice of another skillset: scoring. Arminia Bielefeld were his victims on Matchday 9 of the 2021/22 campaign, when he netted one of the goals of the season – taking on three players with sublime skill before chipping the ball over goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

22 February 2022: 50th Bundesliga appearance
There was a sense of coming full circle as Bellingham marked his half-century against Gladbach, having also made his Bundesliga debut against the Foals. In doing so he was the second youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach 50 appearances, behind only Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala. The 6-0 win over Gladbach was a fitting way to celebrate.
19 August 2022: second Golden Boy nomination
Nominated for the second year running for Europe’s Golden Boy award, Bellingham is among the 60 players on the shortlist, with the winner to be announced in October.
27 August 2022: Kopa Trophy nomination
To the surprise of nobody, Bellingham received another nomination, this time for the Kopa Trophy – the junior category of the Ballon d’Or award.
17 September 2022: 100th Dortmund appearance in the Revierderby
It is only fitting that Bellingham makes his 100th game for Dortmund on a special occasion – and they don't get much more special than the Revierderby against fierce local rivals Schalke.
