Jamal Musiala on Bayern Munich recovery: 'It’s going really well'
Jamal Musiala has suggested that he could return to competitive action for Bayern Munich sooner rather than later after recovering from a serious injury.
The 22-year-old, who returned to training after the winter break on Friday - a day before the rest of the Bayern squad - was speaking at a visit to the Taubenbach fan club on Sunday.
“It’s not just my decision," Musiala said when asked about a return to action. "We don’t want to do anything too early and we’re taking it session by session. It’s going really well.”
Musiala did not travel with the rest of the squad for the 5-0 friendly victory over Red Bull Salzburg, with Bayern sporting director Max Eberl revealing he suffered a "minor setback" which will keep him out until Matchday 19 at least. However, "that is normal following such a long time out," Eberl added.
Musiala suffered a broken fibula and a dislocated ankle in the Club World Cup quarter-finals against Paris Saint-Germain in July. He was involved in parts of team training in mid-December and now appears to be closer than ever to his long-awaited comeback.
