Bayern Munich board member Max Eberl talks about Harry Kane and Michael Olise futures
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has spoken about the chances of both Harry Kane and Michael Olise extending their contracts with the Bundesliga champions, expressing confidence in keeping the striker and stressing that the winger has no release clause.
Eberl told German newspaper Bild that: "You can see and sense that Harry [Kane] feels at home in Munich, at the club, and within the team. I can’t think of any reason why his contract shouldn’t be extended."
He also gave his unqualified backing for Kane to win the 2026 Ballon d'Or, after he finished as Bundesliga top scorer for the third successive campaign while claiming his second title with Bayern last season, saying: "I have seen firsthand how Harry has performed over the past two years. He has broken records and is a top guy. For me, there is no other candidate."
With Bayern keeping creative master Olise over the summer despite some quickly dismissed rumours to the contrary, Eberl mapped out the France international's future by saying: "Michael has made exceptional progress with us. We will certainly sit down at the appropriate time to discuss the next steps.
"He still has a three-year contract - and I would like to emphasise there is no release clause. Let me put it this way: we should know by next summer whether or not he is inclined to extend his contract."
Olise and Kane were both rested at the start but introduced from the bench as Bayern drew 0-0 at Schalke on Matchday 2 of the new Bundesliga season.
They have more chances to make an impact on the new campaign when Bayern host Bodø/Glimt in their UEFA Champions League opener on Thursday (9pm CEST) before travelling to newly promoted Elversberg on Sunday (5.30pm CEST).
