Harry Kane breaks Lionel Messi record while continuing UEFA Champions League scoring streak

Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane surpassed Lionel Messi for the most goals scored in the UEFA Champions League after the age of 30 by bagging a brace during his side's 3-3 draw at Viking on Matchday 2 of the 2026/27 league phase.

Former Barcelona and PSG great Messi scored 35 goals in the Champions League after turning 30, while Kane's calmly taken penalty and powerful header in Norway took him to 36 in the same period of his life.

The brace also took Kane to joint eighth on the list of all-time Champions League highest scorers, level with former Bayern legend Thomas Müller with 57 goals.

The 33-year-old is very unlikely to stop there.

He has now scored in all of his past nine ties in the competition, netting 12 goals in the course of that run.

The next continental side hoping to get a handle on the unstoppable striker will be last season's finalists Arsenal - local rivals of Kane's during his time at Tottenham Hotspur - when they visit the Allianz Arena in an eagerly anticipated league phase clash next Wednesday (kick-off 9pm CEST).
