Hamburg sign defensive duo Warmed Omari and Giorgi Gocholeishvili
Promoted Hamburg have secured season-long loan deals for central defender Warmed Omari and right-back Giorgi Gocholeishvili.
Comoros international Omari makes the switch from France's Stade Rennes. The 25-year-old has made 94 competitive appearances for his parent club, as well as four whilst on loan at Olympique Lyon last season.
Shakhtar Donetsk's Gocholeishvili also spent the 2024/25 campaign out on loan. The Georgia international played 33 times for Copenhagen, helping the Danish outfit win a league and cup double, a year after doing the domestic double in Ukraine.
"In Warmed, we've signed a player who has already gained a lot of experience in Ligue 1 and European competition. At the same time, he still has potential to develop," said Hamburg sporting director Stefan Kuntz.
"In Giorgi, we're getting a player who has an excellent character and a top mentality. He is known as an absolute team player with a great work ethic. He'll not only benefit the defence, but the whole team," he added of Gocholeishvili.
Hamburg face fifth-tier Pirmasens in the DFB Cup opening round on 16 August. A week later, the Red Shorts begin their first season of Bundesliga football since being relegated at the end of 2017/18 with a trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
