Martin Adeline joins Hamburg from Troyes

France youth international Martin Adeline has completed a move to Hamburg, signing a long-term contract with the Bundesliga club.

Adeline, 22, bolsters Hamburg’s attacking options from midfield, having netted 10 goals and provided 10 assists in 32 games in France’s Ligue 2 in 2025/26 - helping his former side secure their return to Ligue 1 as champions.

Hamburg board member for sport Kathleen Krüger said: "Martin brings exactly the qualities we were looking for. He will bring another dimension to our play, give us more options and make us more flexible. His personality and mentality are also a very good fit for HSV. He is a selfless team player who works tirelessly for the side. We are delighted that he has chosen to join the club.”

Graduating from Reims’ youth academy, Adeline played 14 matches in Ligue 1 before leaving for Troyes on a permanent basis in 2024 after loan spells at Rodez and Annecy.

"I had a very good feeling from my first conversations with HSV. The size of the club, the supporters and the stadium all appealed to me, as did the chance to continue developing and prove myself in the Bundesliga. I am very grateful to everyone at the club for the faith they have shown in me. I’m now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and playing at the Volksparkstadion for the first time," said Adeline, who has represented France’s youth teams 22 times, scoring two goals, across various age groups.

Having secured a second successive season in Germany’s top flight - after finishing 2025/26 in 13th under Merlin Polzin, nine points adrift of the promotion/relegation play-off - Hamburg begin their campaign with a DFB Cup first-round trip to Verl on 24 August, before facing Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park in their Bundesliga opener the following weekend.
