Julian Nagelsmann selects three fresh faces for September's FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers
The Germany squad for their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September has been announced, with head coach Julian Nagelsmann handing first call-ups to Finn Dahmen, Paul Nebel and Nnamdi Collins.
The young trio will join the senior squad that will face Slovakia (4 September) and Northern Ireland (7 September) after impressive performances in the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, with Nebel and Collins also catching the eye as Germany's U21 side made it to the finals of the European Championship in the summer.

They’ll be surrounded by plenty of experienced faces too, with Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel forming the remainder of the goalkeeping trio in the squad, while Collins will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Antonio Rüdiger, Jonathan Tah and his Frankfurt captain, Robin Koch.
Nebel forms part of a dynamic midfield selection that blends the experience of captain Joshua Kimmich, Pascal Groß, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry with younger, exciting creators such as himself, Angelo Stiller and Florian Wirtz.
That midfield will be feeding either Nick Woltemade or Niclas Füllkrug at the top end of the pitch, the two strikers picked by Julian Nagelsmann for September’s double header.
