Germany release new 125-year anniversary jerseys ahead of Nations League clash with Italy
Germany have released their new 125-year anniversary jersey that they will debut in their UEFA Nations League quarter-finals against Italy on 20 March.
The new adidas home shirt is designed to evoke memories of the jersey worn by the 1974 World Cup-winning side captained by Franz Beckenbauer with the tagline 'the fabric of legends'.
The off-white tone with a black trim marks a return to Germany kits of old. Additionally, the badge is a retro reworking of the first-ever DFB logo from 1900. The German eagle (or Bundesadler), which is usually found at the centre of the badge is instead faintly debossed behind and around it. There is also a German flag detail on the inside of the collar.
As a special anniversary kit, it will be debuted in Germany's Nations League first leg quarter-final in Italy. The women will play with it in their April internationals.
The DFB unveiled the new strip in a video where Thomas Müller and Rudi Völler request a kit built on legends for Florian Wirtz and Jule Brand.
This kit will be among the last produced for the national team by adidas, who had supplied Germany's squads for over 70 years, being the manufacturer for all four World Cup titles, all three Euros successes, as well as two world and eight European crowns for the women's team. The DFB confirmed in March 2024 that Nike will become the national team's supplier as of 2027.
adidas are set to return to the Bundesliga stage in 2026 with the new official matchballs.
