Eintracht Frankfurt secure UEFA Champions League qualification
Eintracht Frankfurt have qualified for the UEFA Champions League via their Bundesliga placing for the first time ever, with their 3-1 win against Freiburg on Saturday guaranteeing them a spot in the 2025/26 league phase of the competition.
The result means that Dino Toppmöller's side finish third after an impressive campaign.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche said: "It is a fantastic success, of course. This team have an incredible character, they are so resilient. I am very proud."
Toppmöller said: “I'm incredibly proud of this young team. What they’ve achieved is outstanding. We all wanted to bring this wonderful club into the Champions League. We’re going to hugely enjoy this day.”
The Eagles have never finished higher than third in the Bundesliga, the last time coming as far back as the 1992/93 season. Moreover, with 17 Bundesliga wins in 2024/25, they have set a new club record for single-season victories in Germany's top flight.
Their achievement has been rewarded with an automatic place in the league phase of next season's Champions League, marking the first time the club have qualified for the competition via their Bundesliga placing.
Eintracht last featured in the Champions League in the 2022/23 campaign by virtue of winning the UEFA Europa League title the previous season. They advanced as far as the last 16 before being eliminated by Napoli.
Toppmöller's charges enjoyed a run to the Europa League quarter-finals this term but were knocked out by Tottenham Hotspur over two legs.
The will join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, runners-up Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund in Europe's elite club competition next season.
