RB Leipzig confirm talks on extending contract with club captain David Raum
RB Leipzig have confirmed they are planning to open contract extension talks with Germany international left-back and club captain David Raum later this month, with his current deal due to expire next summer.
Raum signed for Leipzig in summer 2022 from Hoffenheim and has since made 145 competitive appearances, registering seven goals and 30 assists while helping the club successfully defend the DFB Cup in his first season.
The 26-year-old took over captaincy duties from Willi Orbán in summer 2025 and has 39 caps for Germany, appearing at the last two FIFA World Cups as well as UEFA Euro 2024.
Leipzig's managing director for sport Marcel Schäfer said: "There will definitely be discussions with David and his agent. We are keen to extend his contract, as I have emphasised several times."
Raum played the full 90 minutes as Leipzig beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0 on the new Bundesliga season's opening weekend. He also featured in the 6-0 rout of minnows Eintracht Trier in the DFB Cup first round.
