Cologne are looking to get themselves back on track, and what better way to do that than with a win in the Rhine derby? On Sunday afternoon, the Billy Goats will host Borussia Mönchengladbach at the RheinEnergieStadion, but how will they fare after injuries to key attackers? Vote now for your Cologne starting line-up for this huge clash!
After three consecutive games without a win, Cologne are looking to get back to winning ways. A derby win could also push their rivals from the Lower Rhine even deeper into crisis and, in the process, spoil the debut of new coach Alexander Blessin.
René Wagner will have to reshuffle his defense, as starting right-back Alessio Castro-Montes is out due to a muscle injury. However, Sebastian Sebulonsen is ready to step in as his replacement.
At left-back, Borna Sosa could potentially push Gideon Mensah to the bench.
Cologne are facing big problems up front after their friendly match against third-division side Viktoria Köln during the international break dealt them a double injury blow. Thijs Dallinga will be out for months due to a cruciate ligament injury, and Ragnar Ache (thigh muscle injury) will also have to sit out the Rhine derby.
So who will replace them in attack? Marius Bülter made a case for himself with the equalising goal in the friendly, while Luca Waldschmidt and Imad Rondić are also in the running for the role up front.
However, a different setup that involves either Saïd El Mala and/or new signing Mikey Moore isn’t out of the question either.
Vote above for your ideal starting line-up in the derby!
