Borussia Dortmund have signed another top young talent after winning the race to secure the signature of exciting teenager Julien Duranville from Anderlecht.

The fleet-footed Belgian winger, who only made his professional debut shortly after turning 16 last May, has penned a long-term contract with last season's Bundesliga runners-up.

"We are very pleased that Julien and his family have placed great trust in us and that he is now wearing our colours," BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl said. "Julien is a fast, technically strong and creative winger in whom we see great potential. We would like to work together in the coming years to leverage his potential and promote his development, as we have already [done] several times in the past with young talents. Our main focus is now on integrating Julien into our professional squad and the new environment as quickly as possible and gradually bringing him up to the level of the Bundesliga.”

Duranville is seen as one of the most talented young players to break through in Belgium in recent years, and he has already been capped at U19 level by his country.

After making his Anderlecht debut against Club Brugge on the final day of the 2021/22 season, the youngster came off the bench to score against OH Leuven in his first appearance of the current campaign.

Duranville, who can play on either wing, appeared six times in the Belgian Pro League for Anderlecht this season - starting two games. He also featured four times as a substitute in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage against FCSB, Silkeborg and West Ham.

Injuries have restricted him since late October and he is currently on the road to recovery following a muscle complaint.

The 1997 European champions, currently fifth in the Bundesliga, are next in action away to Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 18.
