Bayern Munich sign Morocco's Ismael Saibari

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Morocco attacking midfielder Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven.

Saibari, who has spent the last six seasons at Dutch giants PSV and is currently starring for Morocco at the FIFA World Cup 2026, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal through to 30 June 2031.

“As a child, you dream of signing for a club like Bayern - everyone knows they’re one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Saibari told the club’s official website. “Bayern compete for the biggest titles - including the Champions League - every season, and I want to win as many titles here as possible.

“Bayern’s style suits me; I can play my game here and will work hard every day to help the team. Head coach Vincent Kompany played a big role in my decision - I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Saibari spent time in Belgium as a youngster and also played for PSV's second team, before enjoying regular first-team minutes from 2023 onwards.

Across his 142 competitive appearances for the club, the Spain-born midfielder helped PSV win three successive Eredivisie titles, two Dutch Cups and three Supercups.

The 34-time Morocco international was also named 2026 Eredivisie Player of the Year after chipping in with 15 goals and eight assists in his final season in the Dutch top tier.

He found the net in all three of Morocco's World Cup 2026 group-stage matches while leading the line as a lone striker.

“Ismael Saibari has won three consecutive Dutch titles in Eindhoven, has Champions League experience, and is now demonstrating at the World Cup - at the highest level - just how valuable he can be to a team,” said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.

“He’s versatile, plays with high intensity and is bold in his play. He has just the right the hunger we want to see at Bayern, and his goal-scoring ability and mentality will be a great asset to the team. Players like him are the reason fans come to the stadium.”

A central playmaker capable of also operating in the wide areas and as a false nine, Saibari will primarily provide competition for the likes of Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala in the Bayern No.10 role.

The record champions begin the 2026/27 season away to Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on 22 August, before kicking off the defence of their Bundesliga title defence a week later.
